I am nominating this for featured list because I feel that it meets the criteria and covers the subject of shooting thalers thoroughly. This article was previously nominated, but I asked that it be withdrawn temporarily so some changes could be made to the format. The changes are discussed in detail on the talk page, but to sum it up, the lists were made more accessible for non-sighted users who must use programs to read aloud what is written on the page.-RHM22 (talk) 04:14, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Comments - welcome back!
  • Should this be "List of shooting thalers"?
  • "The first shooting thaler was issued for the Chur shooting festival." when? I think when you interpreted my request to remove years from the section headings you removed them from the lead instead!
  • Assume that the franc in the lead is Swiss franc? worth linking.
  • You definitely don't need to repeat the year in the section headings, now it's in each subsection's table.
  • California based needs a hyphen.
  • Table captions - "Chur Specifications" Specifications->specifications.
  • What are "batzen"?
  • Each table should be formatted the same, i.e. col widths should be consistent from section to section.
  • " 1,023 pieces melted." when? What's the context of this comment?
  • "Harmony is Strength" vs "Light after darkness" - be consistent with the capitalisation.
  • Where are the designers referenced (e.g. where do I find that Bovy designed the 1855 thaler?)
  • "Two examples are known to have been struck in gold." is this kind of note referenced?
  • "20th- and 21st-century Swiss Confederation issues" table is missing a caption and needs to link everything every time, as it's sortable.
  • Denomination does not sort correctly.
  • One mintage has a reference in that table, none of the others do. Why?

Thank you for the comments! I fixed most of them, but there a couple that I'm not sure about.
"1,023 melted" refers to the coins melted under authority of the issuing mint or government. When commemorative coins are unused or unsold, they are often returned to the issuing authority to be melted down. Other pieces could well have been melted by private individuals, but there's obviously no way to quantify that. The number refers to the official government totals.
References for Bovy and "examples struck in gold", etc. are all from the same book and page as the mintage figures. I wasn't sure if I should repeat the reference twice, but it probably would be a good idea to clarify.
As for the 20th and 21st century table, I used the same reference for all mintages. I can it to all the numbers if that would be better. My reference does not give mintage figures for 2009 and 2010, though. I believe I found them somewhere on the internet.
Now, the sortable table. I'm really not sure how to fix that. It seems to be sorting the denominations alphabetically when it should be sorting them numerically. I check the help page for sortable tables, but it was a little confusing to me. I'll check over it again to see if I can figure it out.

Oops, forgot to address "Shooting thaler" versus "List of shooting thalers". I really don't have a preference. I thought I read somewhere that the "List of" prefix was not recommended, but that might have been something else. If you think it's the best title, I'd be fine with a move to "List of shooting thalers".-RHM22 (talk) 20:27, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • If this is the only article addressing shooting thalers, then it should be located at the current title. If there is an article discussing what a shooting thaler is and then a separate list of them, then the "List of" prefix is needed. This list, as is, strikes me like Rawlings Gold Glove Award: it's about the award/prize itself and the list of recipients (or, in this case, list of coins) fills out where the prose in an article would actually be. — KV5 • Talk • 19:24, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
