British Library Wikidata Workshop

In 2013, there's been a lot of interest regarding Wikidata, Wikimedia's newly-created structured data repository, and the ways in which it has been developing.

To address that we held a one-hour workshop on it (run by Wikidata developers) as part of the GLAM-Wiki 2013 conference at the British Library on 13th April. This was only a short presentation, however, and not everyone was able to attend a session on a weekend!

As such, I've arranged a second session on Friday 26th April, hosted in the Brontë room of the British Library Conference Centre, starting at 2.00 and running until 4-5.00. The session included:

a short presentation on the history of Wikidata, its current status, and plans for future development
a live demonstration of the service as it exists and some of the tools developed from it
a chance to try out using Wikidata - adding properties and values to items
an open discussion on what it could be used for in future
