This is the project page for Wikimedia initiatives at Massey University, New Zealand. From January to July 2020 Dr Mike Dickison (User:Giantflightlessbirds) was employed as a Research Information Advisor at the Palmerston North campus, increasing the visibility of research at Massey.

Of the 72 researchers featured in Rangahau, only 34 had Wikidata items and only 24 Wikipedia articles. The following articles were created:

as well as articles for Heather Hendrickson and Libby Liggins. Fifteen other articles were improved, and 72 Wikidata items were created or improved.

Goals

  1. Begin a partnership with the Palmerston North Wikipedia volunteers
  2. Run a staff/student edit-a-thon on Massey PN campus
  3. Organise a Wikipedia event with Palmerston North Public Library (topic: Wildbore photo collection)
  4. Bulk upload of staff photos used in the books Rangahau: Research at Massey (#1:2016, #2:2018) – Massey CC BY copyrighted
  5. Student tutoring for WikiEducation assignments Worked with 7 students improving insect articles for fourth-year Entomology paper
  6. Propose a Wikipedian in Residence programme for Massey
