Correction to Telaga Caste page. Not interesting information to read and understand

[edit]

Kindly refer to the Kapu/Telaga/Balija community portal to add relevant content. Also, add a status column that they are classified as forward caste as of 2017. Important Links and articles are given below: http://www.kapusangam.com/history.php http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/andhra-pradesh/telaga-community-to-bat-for-bc-status/article7853063.ece (That means they are classified as Forward caste today) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.134.38.244 (talk) 02:13, 21 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hello. Your first source is a primary source. Your second source looks good. It mentions that the caste is attempting to get backward status. I've edited the article as per the source. Hope it looks more appropriate now. Thanks. Lourdes 14:46, 21 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, now a days every caste is trying to request government to classify them as backward inorder to attain employment and educational benefits unlike for economically deprived. Also, Telaga caste page looks very dull and no relevant content to read about history. If possible try adding from this link - http://www.aitelagakapubalijasangham.com/sub-castes/. Also, mention they are forward caste http://kshatriyastherulers.blogspot.com/2012/11/castes-in-india.html Telaga, Kapu, Balija, Naidu are classified as Forward Caste in Andhra Pradesh as of 2016. Formatting

[edit]

I need help with formatting. Specifically, I want to know how to format a reference when I am citing something by an unknown or anonymous author (this is an issue for me because I am adding content from EBSCO, which sometimes does not provide author names). I am using sfn references, visible for example in the articles on Virtual Equality and Sexual Desire (book). You can see what I have done in this edit, but I am assuming that isn't the correct way of handling it and want to fix things. FreeKnowledgeCreator (talk) 05:15, 21 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@FreeKnowledgeCreator: There's some help on this at Template:Sfn#No author name in citation template. The "Popular Magazine" example seems to be just what you need. -- John of Reading (talk) 06:55, 21 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
OK thank you. I have to admit I'm not actually sure how to follow that example, however. FreeKnowledgeCreator (talk) 07:01, 21 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@FreeKnowledgeCreator: I've made a couple of edits. The remaining inconsistency is that "Beckworth 1995" isn't listed in the bibliography. The script User:Gadget850/HarvErrors.js is great for drawing attention to this kind of error. -- John of Reading (talk) 07:34, 21 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you again. I can fix the error you refer to myself. FreeKnowledgeCreator (talk) 07:35, 21 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Changing title The Lens Biological Patent Tracker

[edit]

Hi Wikipedia, Thanks for all you do! Big love! I want to change my title in this article to simply, The Lens. Is that possible? Many thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sampfire (talkcontribs) 11:17, 21 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Sampfire: Hello; The title is changed by 'moving' the page via the 'more' tab at the top. Your account appears to have sufficient longevity and number of edits for this facility to be available to you. Please sign your posts on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~). It's a minor point, as you only mentioned the actual title, but please don't refer to pages as yours per WP:OWN. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 11:56, 21 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia already has a (rather promotional) article on Patent Lens, which appears to be the same subject. Maproom (talk) 18:37, 21 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that seems to have been the old version. Shouldn't it now become just a paragraph in the new version? Dbfirs 19:12, 21 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The sidebar on the right

[edit]

Hello, I have created a Wikipedia page, and I want to know how to create the sidebar on the right-hand side, that often has all the very basic information on. Yankue (talk) 11:58, 21 October 2017 (UTC)Yankue[reply]

Hey Yankue. I've added the most common parameters from infobox person to your sandbox. You can see them by clicking edit, and you may fill in the parameters that apply, and simply leave the others blank and the software will ignore the blank ones. GMGtalk 12:02, 21 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Add more content to telaga caste page

[edit]

1. what occupation do they occupy? 2. what is theeir status today ? forward or backward caste? 3. what does telaga caste mean? 4. What is their history ? 5. any famous personalities 6. remove unnecessary content such as next only to reddies and kammas in the page. Very unnecessary content mentioning about 1955 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.134.38.244 (talk) 18:47, 21 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @68.134.38.244: I noticed that you left a message on the article's talk page. That is the best way to suggest edits to an article. Have a nice day! Daylen (talk) 20:03, 21 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Another suggestion to the Kapu caste article. It is wrongly mentioned that Telaga caste is backward, kindly refer to this article: http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/andhra-pradesh/telaga-community-to-bat-for-bc-status/article7853063.ece that means today they are classified as forward. Request to edit the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 20:19, 21 October 2017 (UTC)

Automated edit job

[edit]

Is there a good place to request an editor proficient in (semi-)automated editing tools do a job affecting a few hundred articles? The change is straightforward enough that I'd ordinarily do it myself, except that I don't know what tool is fit for the task, or if I need extra permissions to use it.
