What, Where, and When?
[edit]What? Editors of all experience levels are invited to:
- Meet with fellow editors from UIC and the Chicago community.
- Help improve biographical and topical articles related to trans and queer activism! (Article list TBA.)
- Go on a free, guided tour of the Museum (4:00 - 4:30 PM)
- After the event, attend the ninth annual Jane Addams Birthday Lecture given by Miss Major Griffin-Gracy, the Executive Director of the Transgender GenderVariant Intersex Justice Project. (7:00 - 9:00 PM)
From the Hull House's event website:
When the Hull House's staff realized that our beloved and fierce speaker (Miss Major Griffin-Gracy) did not have an entry in Wikipedia, we knew we needed to help queer the most popular encyclopedia in the world. The stats are clear—the overwhelming majority of Wikipedia editors are straight men, and the content reflects the demographics. Only 9% of editors identify as women, and only 1% of editors identify as trans. Join us to help queer Wikipedia!
