2nd West Virginia Volunteer Cavalry Regiment

I've listed this article for peer review because I have updated the article substantially. My goal is to get it up to Good Article. I have not been able to find any good examples to use a template for this type of Civil War regiment article.

• What makes this a reliable source?

I was worried about that source. However, the author of the blog is Scott C. Patchan, who wrote two of the books that I used as sources for events in the Shenandoah Valley. I can replace that source (although I thought the blog was interesting). It might take me a few days to find it in the sources that I have already used.TwoScars (talk) 21:37, 12 March 2016 (UTC)

Newton was going to be a source in the Organization section, but I made the section smaller. I will remove. I appreciate you looking at the article. Do you think I should make the section on the Wytheville Raid shorter? I am working on a Wytheville Raid/Toland's Raid article—which would make it more feasible to shorten the section.TwoScars (talk) 21:37, 12 March 2016 (UTC)

• in the Cited works section, the titles of the works should probably use title case capitalization;
  • I have always preferred the title case capitalization, but I tried to use the exact title as presented in OCLC WorldCat. For example OCLC WorldCat lists the title of the second book as "The War of the Rebellion : a compilation of the official records of the Union and Confederate armies." I would have preferred to use "The War of the Rebellion: A Compilation of the Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies". Should I change away from WorldCat? • if you are looking for some similar Civil War articles that have been quality reviewed, a couple spring to mind, which might help you (these are A-class and FA-class):

  • 22nd Regiment Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry
  • 68th New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment

        • Thanks for all your help. I may shorten the section titled "Sheridan joins the Army of the Potomac near Petersburg", since the 2nd West Virginia Cavalry is not mentioned. I will also check to see if any of the sections after the reorganization can be shortened.         • Thank you so much. I plan to get to the 1st West Virginia Cavalry in about 3 years unless somebody else upgrades it. The picture of Charles Capehart definitely belongs with that article, since he became regiment commander and won the Medal of Honor. Maybe I will do a quick (but short for now) upgrade to the 1st West Virginia Volunteer Cavalry Regiment, with the picture, until I can do more. I'm already committed to the 330th Infantry Regiment and 83rd Infantry Division for World War II. If you can find a picture of Henry Capehart that can be used, don't hesitate to insert it. Lieutenant Colonel James Allen would be a distant second pick. I could not find a picture of either that I felt I could use. If I have to, I will replace the picture with a drawing (by me) of a map of the Marshall's Crossroads area and Capehart's charge. TwoScars (talk) 13:16, 25 March 2016 (UTC)
