Someone has nominated this article for "Featured Article." However, I don't believe that the article is ready. I am particularly concerned about arts and entertainment, outside references, and overall article format. However, with more work this article can be worthy of FA. Any comment is appreciated. - It looks pretty decent to me, but there's always more that can be added. Comparing to Seattle, Washington, for example, the page could potentially include information on the "Official nickname, flower, slogan, and song", mayors of note, street layout, medical centers and hospitals, utilities, and some more references. I also compared to London, which has "London in the arts", markets and shopping areas, and parks and gardens. (Although that may be a bit much, as London is an absolutely enormous place. :-) — RJH 16:38, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- I added a new section called "Health and medicine" (concerning the hospitals) and a passage about the street arrangements under "Transportation" (the passage paraphrases some material from the Boston transportation article, which is the main article for that section). Right now, they are rudimentary and would need further improvement in the near future. Pentawing 17:31, 4 Jun 2005 (UTC)
History of Boston, Massachusetts could use a lot of expansion, and then a better summary in the main article. A lot more could be said about the topological history of the city, its growth, and its annexation of neighboring municipalities. Perhaps something should be added to the main article about the weather-predicting light on the Old John Hancock building, and the Duck Tours should certainly be somewhere in the mix. I'm pretty sure the city has the country's second-largest concentration of LGBT people, after San Francisco; that seems fairly notable, as might the city's relationship to the issuance of same-sex marriage certificates. Come to think of it, there are several major local political controversies that deserve mention. Boston is very concerned about terrorism right now; there are lots of transportation issues; certainly lots about housing prices, the recent abolition of rent control, development, and gentrification in general; town-gown issues; historical preservation. There are lots of juicy politics in the State House, which should probably be covered in the Politics section of Massachusetts, and linked to from here. -- Beland 04:15, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC)
