I've listed this article for peer review because I successfully nominated it for GA some time ago but would like to improve it further. If you would like me to review any PR or GAN in return for your peer review just mention it here at the end of your comments.
Thanks, Freikorp (talk) 04:40, 20 June 2015 (UTC)
- I'm closing this peer review as i've gotten one very good review that I'm satisfied with, and i'd like to reduce the backlog so that other articles can also be reviewed. Freikorp (talk) 23:02, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
Comments from starship.paint
- Hi Freikorp. The article is short - naturally for a program which never launched. Perhaps more information could be included to expand the article. starship.paint ~ ¡Olé! 04:00, 9 July 2015 (UTC)
- 1) What was the background of intelligent personal assistants at the time (2000)? Was Mya the first, or were there others before it? Source says the world’s first “cyber assistant,”? starship.paint ~ ¡Olé! 09:33, 9 July 2015 (UTC)
- Hmm, this is tricky. As you can see from the article Intelligent personal assistant (IPA), there isn't any detailed information on timelines/or the history of IPA's on wikipedia, nor have I been able to find a good source that gives a history of IPA's (as previously mentioned, I can't even find a source that mentions Mya in comparison to more recent assistants). I know voice recognition software had been announced and was being trialled by other companies, but it looks like voice recognition itself had been in development since the 1970s and earlier. I have a feeling the NY Post referring to her as the first "cyber assistant" has more to do with the fact she was given a character to represent her. Any advice on where I should go from here? Perhaps just mentioning the NY Post referred to her as such? Freikorp (talk) 01:28, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
- Reading through the examples of IPA, seems like none of those were released before 2008. To tilt the idea of "a character to represent her", I suggest inserting The New York Post in 2000 described Mya as "the world's first 'cyber assistant'" and one of "a crop of sassy, fashion-loving virtual lookers turning up on sites all over the Web". starship.paint ~ KO 02:57, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
- 2) Since Myosphere re-directs to this article, could it be explained what Myosphere was actually all about?
- Added as much as I could from my existing sources. Have a look and let me know if you think it needs more. Freikorp (talk) 06:54, 9 July 2015 (UTC)
- If you have more, it would help. If the information isn't out there, it's beyond our means then. starship.paint ~ ¡Olé! 09:34, 9 July 2015 (UTC)
- Added more, and also relocated this paragraph for chronological reading. Let me know what you think. Freikorp (talk) 00:58, 10 July 2015 (UTC)

- 3) Have there been any other future intelligent personal assistants been compared to Mya?
- Unfortunately not to my knowledge. Mya really faded into obscurity. Freikorp (talk) 07:34, 9 July 2015 (UTC)
- Everything in the lede should be in the body as well -> this is regarding the speculation around her name, which probably should be shifted to the Character section. By doing that, you free the lede of references. starship.paint ~ ¡Olé! 04:00, 9 July 2015 (UTC)
- Done. Added information to the Character section, and clarified the sources that state this also. Freikorp (talk) 06:32, 9 July 2015 (UTC)
- The last sentence of the article Mya was never released... seems out of place in the Reception section. starship.paint ~ ¡Olé! 04:00, 9 July 2015 (UTC)
- Hmm, I suppose to does seem a bit out of place. I also don't have a source for it, I just thought it worth clarifying to the reader, as I reached this conclusion from spending weeks searching for sources for it either being released on cancelled. What do you think I should do? Should I move it to 'Debut and appearances' or delete it entirely? Keeping in mind it appears in the lead and is helpful to the reader. Freikorp (talk) 06:37, 9 July 2015 (UTC)
- Debut and appearances. Weird that the sources years later (06/07) never mentioned anything? Perhaps a slight reword - Mya was never documented to have been released, nor was there an announcement of the program's cancellation. Perhaps you should do a similar search for Myosphere and lump it in as well into this sentence. starship.paint ~ ¡Olé! 09:31, 9 July 2015 (UTC)
- Done. The 2006 source does mention that Mya "disappeared", but unfortunately does not go into any more detail. I was disappointed that the 2007 source didn't mention anything about the cancellation, but I believe that source was focused purely on the character design, rather than the program. Searching for announcement of the Myosphere program being cancelled yielded me no results either unfortunately. Freikorp (talk) 01:02, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
- The source doesn't actually say Angelina Jolie kissing her brother. starship.paint ~ ¡Olé! 04:04, 9 July 2015 (UTC)
- Youre right. But it says "after Angelina Jolie and her brother", and there are no shortage of sources out there that do confirm she kissed him. Do you think I should find another source that confirms they did kiss and add it as a second inline citation? Obviously this source won't mention Mya. Freikorp (talk) 06:32, 9 July 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, that's fine. starship.paint ~ ¡Olé! 09:21, 9 July 2015 (UTC)
- Done. Freikorp (talk) 00:30, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
- Source for Mya's hair was changed from brunette to bleach blonde? Also check out the purple words above you might have missed starship.paint ~ ¡Olé! 09:33, 9 July 2015 (UTC)
- Added inline citation for hair colour change. Source specifically says the colour change was to make her appear less realistic. Freikorp (talk) 00:30, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
Thanks so much for your review Starship.paint. Please read my replies and check the changes I have made and let me know what you think. If you have a PR or GAN you would like me to review in return, just let me know. Freikorp (talk) 01:30, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
- Glad to help. See one reply above in brown font, rest are fine. Perhaps one more suggestion. Sidney Matrix, in 2006, stated Mya "disappeared"... I do have a peer review Wikipedia:Peer review/Wrestle Kingdom 9/archive1. starship.paint ~ KO 02:57, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
