Nantes

Hello,

I have already nominated several Good and Featured articles on the French Wikipedia, and I would like to try to do the same on the English Wikipedia with the article Nantes. Ideally, I would like to nominate it to be a Featured Article straight away. I have worked on it for a couple of months, and I feel it is now exhaustive and even more complete than the French article of the same name. My main concerns are related to language: I am not a native English speaker, so the article needs to be checked and corrected to be better. Any advice on general structure is also more than welcome.

• I wish my French was nearly as good as your English! Given it a copyedit, but didn't come across anything serious.
• "Around 20,000 people suffered damage in the 1943 raids" - does this mean "injured", or more like "affected"?
• It would be good to mention what happened to the city during the WWII invasion of France - at present, it skips straight to US air raids and Nazi executions. And the same for liberation - when did the Allies recapture it?
• Given that there's a section on strikes, the May 1968 events in France seem to be missing.
• (I'll check the second half of the article tomorrow)
• "As such, it is the residence of a région and a département préfet, whose charge is to represent the State on the local level." It's not clear whether these are separate roles, or what the difference between the two is.
• A few town twinnings are missing citations.
• "Students generally come from the region, while people in employment are often from Paris." - "often from Paris" doesn't sound right, although I can't read the citation. Is it saying the majority are from Paris, or that Paris is the most common place for those to come from?
• There's a lot of overlinking - "Paris" is linked every time it appears, for instance, which is definitely unnecessary.

• It is around 20,000 people affected by the raids, because they lost their homes. Should we say "affected" instead of "suffered damage" then?
• I'll add information about WWII and May 68.
• These are two roles. Would it make more sense if I precise "a région préfet and a département préfet, whose charge..."?
• I'll add citations for twinnings.
• For Paris, I would say that the sentence can mean the two. The original sentence says "Ces derniers, issus en majorité de la région parisienne...".

• Yes, "affected" - or even just say "Around 20,000 lost their homes in the raids"
• I think maybe it's the word "State" confusing me here. "As such, it is the residence of a région and a département préfet, local representatives of the Government of France." (if that's correct) might be clearer to people who don't know the French system so well. "Prefect" is the usual translation, rather than "préfet".
