Stadio Olimpico

I am an Italian editor on it.wiki, living in Rome near to the Stadio Olimpico. I rewrote and updated (for the statistics part) the article using the sources I already used for writing the article in Italian.

I am not a native speaker, thus I opened this peer review both for checking the writing and correct possible errors and also for receiving suggestions for the improvement of the article.

• WP:GOCE can provide a copyedit of the article, and they are much more knowledgable than me with grammar and spelling.
• The lede is quite long; I suggest cutting it down to three paragraphs.

   Sorry, I'm not sure to understand, what is a "lede"?

   Yes, right. Added. Actually I forgot we are on en.wiki, in Italy we know these facts since schooldays.

   Are you sure? Is unquestioned that it is used since then...

   Actually there already is, in the provided source where it reads: "Nel quadro degli importanti lavori di miglioria già da tempo avviati, il CONI ha garantito che lo Stadio Olimpico [...] si doterà anche sul piano dei servizi e del confort di strutture a livello dei massimi standard internazionali." ["As part of the important renewal works started some times ago, CONI guaranteed that the stadium also will provide structures to respect the most demanding international standards aboout comfort and services"].

   Yes, right. Added (btw I did a mistake, it was 2021, not 2020).

   Actually you already have a source few rows below when there are mentioned the EURO 2020 matches played at the Olimpico with the articles which support the affirmation...

   Yes, but it's already in the provided source for the paragraph, where it reads "it will also be 50 years since the Italian capital last staged the championships".

   You already have it at this link which is used to source the paragraph: there's the whole list of the matches played by the national team which can be filtered by venue.

    You already have it (in Italian) in the newspaper article used as source (here: "Il «Golden gala» raggrupperà il meglio dell'atletica. Dieci gare saranno di livello mondiale con i primi dieci in assoluto per ciascuna specialità (sprint, salto in alto, 800, 400 ostacoli fra le altre) ed otto di livello internazionale (con alcuni fra i maggiori trenta atleti per disciplina)" [Golden Gala is going to feature the best of world's athletics: ten discipline will be featuring the top ten athletes for each of them (sprint, high jump, 800m, 400 hurdles and counting), and further eight disciplines will feature athletes amongst the top 30.] The Golden Gala was announced four months in advance, and nobody knew which OC would send their athletes to the 1980 Olympics or less. Primo Nebiolo invited both athletes from the USA and the USSR and also, of course, of the countryes of both's influence sphere. I was 15 that summer and was amongst the young boys admitted for free at the Golden Gala.

• @Blackcat: Regarding the lede: The lede is the section at the top of an article before the first section heading. In this article, it is the paragraphs before "History".
• Regarding citations: The GA criteria (2a) has become quite strict about citations. Except for the lede, plot summary, and some other exceptions, there is an expectation that there is a citation at the end of each paragraph. Citations should be placed at the end of the sentence(s) that they are verifying; for instances you outlined above where the inline citation is placed before the sentence, it should be moved to after the sentence. @Z1720:, oh, ok, I didn't know about this deliberate misspelling of lead. Anyway, I was considering, the article is rather long, more than 135 kb; don't you think that the lead section's lenght is appropriate? I have already slimmed it down one month ago, I wonder what else I might reduce which doesn't suppress information.

@Blackcat: Looking at WP:SIZERULE, which is subjective, this article is in the average/good range (because there's about 6300 words of prose size). MOS:LEADLENGTH says 3-4 paragraphs for an article of that size, but I'm not sure if the lede is included in that count. Right now, it has 6. Regardless, I commented on the lede before looking up Wikipedia's recommendations, so my thoughts about the size are my impressions from quickly skimming the article.
