Wikipedia:Userboxes for discussion

On this page, deletion and userfication of Userboxes is discussed. Userboxes are decorative and informational features which appear on User pages.

Userboxes that have been listed for more than seven days are eligible for userfication or deletion when a rough consensus to do so has been reached or no objections to its deletion have been raised.

Undeletion is not discussed on this page, but on Deletion review.

What to list at UfD

• Userfication
  • Userboxes in template namespace (per WP:GUS)

• Deletion
  • Userboxes that appear to be useless
  • Userboxes that are basically nonsense
  • Userboxes that are offensive

• Other
  • Duplicate userboxes
  • Very long userboxes
  • Userboxes that may require renaming

What not to list at UfD

• Userboxes that you just "don't like"
• Templates and pages that are not userboxes

How to list at UFD

I	Edit the userbox. Enter the following text inside, and at thetop of, the userbox: {{subst:UFD}} Please include "UFD" or similar in the edit summary, and don't mark the edit as minor. Also, try to minimise page disruption by using the Preview button to check the revised userbox, as its new look will be visible on all pages that use it. Do not blank the userbox.
II	Create its UfD subsection. Click on THIS LINK to edit the section of UfD for today's entries. Add this text to the section, at the top: {{subst:UFD2|template name|Your reason(s) for listing the template, and the action you want taken.}} (you do not need to sign the post, this is done by the template)
III	Give due notice. Please consider adding {{subst:UFD3|userbox name}} on user talk pages of users who have this template on their userpage, to inform them of the discussion.

Also consider adding to your watchlist any templates you nominate for UfD. This will help ensure that your UfD tag is not removed by a vandal.

Discussion

Anyone can join the discussion, but please give a reason when saying what you think should be done with the userbox. Please explain, in your opinion, the action that should be taken. Comments such as "I like it," or "I find it useful," while potentially true, generally do not fulfill this requirement. It also helps if you Bold your actual action (for example, Keep As Is, Userfy, or Delete).
