Wikipedia:Why not you?
Appearance
This is an essay. It contains the advice or opinions of one or more Wikipedia contributors. This page is not an encyclopedia article, nor is it one of Wikipedia's policies or guidelines, as it has not been thoroughly vetted by the community. Some essays represent widespread norms; others only represent minority viewpoints. |
When faced with a problem, backlog, or task many editors ask for someone to come and help out, so why not you? Do you not have the proper permissions? Request them so that you can help out. Don't know how you can help? Ask on the talk page; the regulars will probably be willing to help you learn so that you can be another pair of hands.
For many the idea of stepping outside of your comfort zone can be daunting, as can the process of being granted added permissions, but being bold isn't just for articles. Just like an edit to an article may be reverted, your request or help may sometimes be denied. If that happens, learn from the suggestions, try helping out other places, and if you still want to help later, come back and try again.
