Welcome to WikiProject Bedfordshire, and thanks for becoming a member. This page will serve as a short guide to tell you about the project, its goals and how you can participate effectively.

The Project

[edit]

History

[edit]

The project was founded on the 9th October 2006, by Lcardsdata. After Lcarsdata retired on the 27 May 2008, activity on the project page itself gradually slowed down, and the project was semi-active. Acather96 became the current co-ordinator on June 11 2010, and the project is now revamped with new pages, improved templates/classification systems, and hopefully, some new members!

Scope

[edit]

This projects scope is basically any article which is to do with,or has any connection with, the county of Bedfordshire.

Goals

[edit]

 Done

Done for all settlements, other articles still need infoboxes though.

Important Pages

[edit]

Main Page

[edit]

The main page of WikiProject Bedfordshire is the most important project page. Here you can look at our goals, do or update open tasks, view a list of members, look at templates which can be used on Bedfordshire articles, or for your userspace and use some resources that may be useful for doing research.

Collaborations

[edit]

While currently inactive, the collaborations page is where candidates for a collaboration are submitted. This is where all project members work on an article and improve it. This may be revived soon.

Assessment

[edit]

The template used to tag articles under our scope allows articles to be rated for quality and prioritized. This page has two functions:

  • A) Provides instructions on how to tag an article and rate it
  • B) Lets Wikipedians request an assessment, re-assessment or review of an article.

The page also describes the 1.0 quality rating scheme, and how it fits in with WikiProject Bedfordshire.

Infobox Status

[edit]

Another currently inactive page is the Infobox status page. The bot doesn't currently seem to be updating the table, though efforts will be made to restart the page.

Newsletter

[edit]

A monthly newsletter will be sent out to all participants, informing them of the latest news and updates about the Project. To submit an idea, leave a message on the talk page. You can also choose additional subcription options on the page as well.

Welcoming

[edit]

As this project is short of active members, a special welcoming page has been set up to give hints and tips on how to identify and recruit new project members, by use of template messages and certain categories. The page also gives advice on dealing with inactive members.

Help Out

[edit]

Here are some ideas of ways you can help out at WikiProject Bedfordshire:

  • Find and recruit new members
  • View and complete open tasks.
  • Add content to Bedfordshire articles, especially top or high importance ones.
  • Improve a stub
  • Find references for unreferenced articles
  • Assess articles that currently lack a quality or importance rating, or that have been listed at the Assessment page.
  • Take photographs or find free-use images of Bedfordshire (or related articles), upload them to Commons and then utilize them here in articles.

A complete list of resources can be found on all the project pages listed above. Below are some of the most important or frequently required:
