- Why do you want to start a new group, instead of joining one of these existing groups?
- I want to expand weight decay, but there is no suitable wikiproject. Sharouser (talk) 03:38, 24 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
- Exact (or decoupled) weight decay is a modification of Tikhonov regularization. In SGD optimizer, decoupled weight decay and Tikhonov regularization give same results. However they give different results in other optimizer such as Adam optimizer. Generally, weight decay means Tikhonov regularization and its several modifications. Oppose
[edit]- Oppose: Does Wikipedia: WikiProject Artificial Intelligence have a task force for ML and DL already? If not, it is better to form one there. No need of extra segregation in topics prior to any special boom in the sector/ creation of pages. Right now I expect there are lot of overlaps between different AI sectors, so speaking from industrial point of view, I oppose. I am not much aware for educational/ theoretical articles but they must be lesser in number for sure. ExclusiveEditor Notify Me! 16:22, 12 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Discussion
[edit]Two questions:
- We have wikiprojects that cover AI. Why are none of these fit for purpose?
- Does this page require subpages? If not, I don't see that the expansion of a single page is the sort of thing that requires a Wikiproject.
In principle, I am sympathetic to this WPP: there's a lot of energy around machine leraning at the moment, and a good WPP could be a vehicle to attract new users and help them learn the ropes. — Charles Stewart (talk) 08:14, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
- I concur with the questions proposed. I would suggest taking on the reigns of the existing AI WikiProject since it is still in a draft state and needs work. You should be able to extend it to support a Machine Learning subproject without much difficulty from the community there (if there is one). Also consider that you could create a weight decay page and then summarize information from the two other articles that you mentioned. Transcluding information from the two existing pages could be a simple matter to resolve your proposed need. Inomyabcs (talk) 22:49, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
