Wikipedia:WikiProject Miley Cyrus
Wikipedia:Miley Cyrus
Description
[edit]This WikiProject would focus on improving all works and topics related to Miley Cyrus. WikiRedactor (talk) 17:57, 30 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- List of important pages and categories for this proposed group

- Category:Miley Cyrus (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) (number of pages in the category: 73)
- Category:Hannah Montana (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) (number of pages in the category: 71)
- List of WikiProjects currently on the talk pages of those articles
- Please invite these and any other similar groups to join the discussion about this proposal. See Wikipedia:WikiProject_Council/Directory to find similar WikiProjects.
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Musicians (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Disney (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- Why do you want to start a new group, instead of joining one of these existing groups?
- There are several articles on Wikipedia relating to Cyrus, though they are in varying condition (some GA, some B-class, etc.) These pages could really benefit from a WikiProject devoted specifically to them, on top of the fact that it would be helpful to receive assistance from editors who are familiar with Cyrus and her work.

- Tbh I Support the proposal. I won't be joining, since I am not her fan, however, she has more than enough articles for a Wiki Project. — Tomíca(T2ME) 20:55, 26 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Support, I'm pretty sure there will be lots of participants. I'm probably not joining since I'm not much of her fan, but I agree with the idea anyway. Prism △ 21:04, 26 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Support - per Tomica. United States Man (talk) 19:57, 28 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose Please no. We don't even have a WikiProject Hollywood or a WikiProject Charlie Chaplin, why would we want one for Miley Cyrus? Why is a separate project needed?? Surely there's very few articles to really organize. Why can't you simply create a page to organize her articles within the actors/singers project?♦ Dr. Blofeld 22:22, 30 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- @Dr. Blofeld and SchroCat: Miley has five Hannah Montana soundtracks, four studio albums of her own, several movies, television series, and all of the songs/episode articles that have popped up along the way. The WikiProjects for Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Beyoncé WikiProjects have all been successful, and those for Katy Perry and Shakira are off to a great start; there are plenty of underdeveloped Miley Cyrus articles that have been created since 2006 that would certainly benefit from specialized attention. WikiRedactor (talk) 17:48, 31 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose As per Blofeld above, I'm not sure about the need for a separate project - perhaps a task force of WP:MUSICIANS would be enough. - SchroCat (talk) 10:50, 31 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose This is not a topic of great encyclopedic importance. If a project were started, it would open Wikipedia to ridicule. Aymatth2 (talk) 14:08, 31 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes, as no-one ridicules WP now. Mind if I twerk? Lugnuts in pop-culture shocker Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 14:52, 31 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- It would reach new depths, a serious encyclopedia having a whole project dedicated to Miley Cyrus!♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:30, 31 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- @Aymatth2 and Dr. Blofeld: There are numerous WikiProjects designated to pop artists (in addition to above: Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Rihanna, etc.) and many of them have been controversial over the years. While Miley is undoubtedly the hot topic in this moment, that doesn't change the amount of articles that are related to her, and how beneficial it will be to have a well-developed showing for a prominent pop culture figure. WikiRedactor (talk) 17:48, 31 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- It is the kind of thing some smart-ass columnist would make fun of. Miley and the nerds. That hurts WP. That there are others like it is irrelevant. Editors do not need a project to collaborate on improving articles. Aymatth2 (talk) 18:31, 31 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- We're an encyclopedia though, why does Miley Cyrus need a separate wikiproject? We don't have a Wikipedia:WikiProject:Mahatma Gandhi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Abraham Lincoln or a Wikipedia:WikiProject George Washington and 1001 other far more notable and important persons which have many times more articles. I can just imagine a scathing article about Miley mentioning "Miley, who now even has a whole project on wikipedia now dedicated entirely to her..." It makes us look fickle and popular culture oriented. I understand that we have certain wikipedians who follow Miley and are fans but can't they use a page within the singers project to list their articles and discuss them, a taskforce or something, why an independent project dedicated solely to her?♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:45, 31 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- I understand what you're saying, and if enough Wikipedians express interest in adjusting this proposal into a task force, perhaps that might be a better arrangement for all. WikiRedactor (talk) 20:21, 31 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

David Jason also opposes :-]♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:31, 5 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose I just don't believe that Miley Cyrus needs to have a Wikiproject. Yes she has begun gaining extensive coverage nowadays, but that is not regarding her music but more about her inclination towards..well.. talking about "pop molly" and licking hammers and linen. You may argue that that was the case for Madonna back in the 1990s and so but she was doing her "antics" at a time when society was plagued with excessive taboos, and her music too has been critical in defining pop music. Yes even Miley has indeed established something, for example that teen star mega-popularity as Hannah Montana (every other little girl's bag in India used to have a picture of her) and then this recent transition into "this." However, all of this can easily be covered without a need of an entirely different Project dedicated to her. I think we should wait for sometime before a Miley Wikiproject, right now just doesn't seem right. --WonderBoy1998 (talk) 05:42, 19 January 2014 (UTC)--WonderBoy1998 (talk) 05:42, 19 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
- I would not join, but definitely Support the creation- she has numerous articles related to her, including albums, films, songs, and shows. XXSNUGGUMSXX (talk) 07:50, 2 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose per Blofeld. This would be embarrassing. BollyJeff | talk 01:48, 11 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
- I'm going to have to Oppose this, sorry! How about a task force instead? I don't think there's a need for a project at the moment. I have to agree with Dr. Blofeld here. ごだい (会話) 03:48, 19 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
- @Ryoga Godai: All feedback is good feedback, thanks for your comments! I would be fine with a task force too, I think any level of organization would certainly help all the Miley-related articles. WikiRedactor (talk) 16:44, 19 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose I thought I would take part in this as I reviewed Miley Cyrus and promoted her to GA. I'm only opposing this because there are enough musicians on Wikipedia that have their own WikiProject and they really shouldn't have. I would have opposed WikiProjects for Katy Perry, Shakira and other self-artists who do not have a large enough scope of their own WikiProject. I feel bad for opposing this. ☠ Jaguar ☠ 21:33, 25 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
- Support Miley might be twerking or anything but she still remains an important topic on Wikipedia with 1000's of articles related to her and also gaining several views. They all need to be organized and connected. This project is a need. I will definitely join. Shane Cyrus (talk) 11:53, 12 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
- Support Miley's article is one of the most important and popular on Wikipedia. She has more than enough articles about her that need organization, expansion and modification. All the articles need to be connected. I'm surprised that we have waited this late to create a Miley WikiProject. It needs to be done instantaneously. I will definitely join. CyrockingSmiler (talk) 16:59, 20 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Has there been a consensus yet?, We need to act now! Shane Cyrus (talk) 09:15, 21 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
- No need - if you think the project would help make one. Got to remember that a wikiproject is just a group of editors.....never take the advice of those that don't want to help and think groups of editors that organized themselves is not wanted....in fact its what we are hoping for... that is collaboration. Anything that helps improve articles should be undertaken and if you think this would work do it. One of the problems that Wiki has had over the past few years is one set of editors telling another set of editors that they can't collaborate in the form/manner they wish. -- Moxy (talk) 19:07, 31 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
