I am looking for general input. I have written what I could from the sources I have found, but was curious to see if anyone else could provide more information to flesh this out from a C-class article to a B or GA. --Admrb♉ltz (t • c • log) 07:44, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Comments — Not being from Utah or having any knowledge of the area, I will say that this article definitely needs expansion. It may or may not survive a challenge on notability. You'll need to find more discussion of it in the media to meet notability standards, otherwise it's just any other small road that happens to have a toll applied to it. Was there any controversy about construction? Are there any proposals for the state or county to take it over? Expansion proposals? Also, the route description can have more written about it, discussing what is along the roadway. Is it in the middle of housing/buildings, forest lands, scrub brush? - I will look into this, NE2's link may help, but I could have sworn I looked through google news last time... --Admrb♉ltz (t • c • log) 19:56, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- [1] may help. --NE2 19:42, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- I added a couple features to the route description. Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 19:48, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Thank you, I will see if I can expand it more. --Admrb♉ltz (t • c • log) 19:56, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Also, since there is a toll applied, USRD project standards do allow for a section on Tolls in the article. I'm not sure if there's much to discuss for this particular roadway, but maybe you could get a good paragraph out of it to make a section. Take a look at WP:USRD/STDS for ideas there. - I'm not sure if it's a reliable source, but [2] may help. --NE2 21:48, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- It would appear to be, the first link off of there states "Originally published in issue 13 of Tollroads Newsletter, which came out in Mar 1997." -- its a published thing... is it an RS? --Admrb♉ltz (t • c • log) 22:02, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- "Toll Roads Newsletter" is just the name of that site, an "online private newsletter". You might want to ask on WP:RS/N. Even if it's not reliable, it should help in getting specific facts to find in other sources. --NE2 22:13, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- I'm asking now if www.tollroadsnews.com is reliable. --Admrb♉ltz (t • c • log) 22:41, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- Most others have beat me to feedback. But one thing I noticed is a created category for "Toll Roads in Utah". I'm iffy on if this deserves its own category as there are only a handful of toll roads in the state. The only other ones I can think of is the John Atlantic Burr toll Ferry on Utah State Route 276 and the ones that are access roads for State Parks where the "toll" is really the state park entrance fee (Utah State Route 313 is one of these). This brings up another point regarding SR-276 the article currently doesn't even mention the toll ferry. Although it is inside The Glenn Canyon NRA, I'm pretty sure UDOT is a joint partner with the feds in the operation of the ferry. Sigh, chalk another one up on my very long get around to it list.Dave (talk) 23:58, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- What about historic toll roads? Wasn't SR-128 built as one? (In which case the redirect from the name of the toll road would belong in the category.) --NE2 00:40, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Fair enough. No idea how many that would bring the count to.

- Meanwhile back at the ranch...
- Presumably citizens wanted this road to connect two points that were previously not easily connectible. What are those? I think if you can answer why does this road exist, the notability concerns that Imzadi raised go away. The "official" website appears to answer those questions.Dave (talk) 01:38, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- They wanted a quicker connection than the congested US-89 to I-84. I will need to work that in somewhere. --Admrb♉ltz (t • c • log) 01:44, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- There are also toll lanes on I-15, apparently. --NE2 02:30, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you search for just "Adams Avenue" toll you get some more results. Let me know if you want any help squeezing the relevant text out of the search. --NE2 02:33, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- The problem with most of those articles is I have to pay $2.95 to view the whole thing... --Admrb♉ltz (t • c • log) 02:36, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Not necessarily. If you play with the search terms sometimes you can get a different teaser paragraph to display for the same article. I've never gotten an entire article this way but sometimes I've gotten enough to source what I neede sourcing without paying. NE2 is a pro at this.... =-) Dave (talk) 02:44, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- I see that; my only concern then is these short snippets don't give author info, just the paper it comes from, which could be an issue if this were to go up for a higher review, asking for that information. --Admrb♉ltz (t • c • log) 02:51, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- If there's no author given, it's probably an uncredited article, in which case the newspaper name alone is certainly enough. [3], for instance, lists the author. --NE2 03:06, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(deindent) I have updated the article with little tidbits I could find from the articles, and the house bill referenced from the non reliable source. Nothing else I could gather from the Toll Road newsletter thing I could back up from a RS. --Admrb♉ltz (t • c • log) 03:18, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- If you have anything interesting from tollroadsnews that you want added, I'll see what I can find. --NE2 05:26, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- From [4] the Historic pass section. --Admrb♉ltz (t • c • log) 08:51, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Bah, that's a tenuous link at best. It would belong in the article on I-84 but I don't see it belonging here. --NE2 09:34, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reassessment? B-class states it needs 50-75% of information needed for a higher grade, I don't think its there myself, but does anyone else have $0.02 to put in on its rating? --Admrb♉ltz (t • c • log) 18:37, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Finetooth comments: This is a reasonable start. I have a few suggestions for improvement.
- Depending on where you live, it might be possible for you to read the complete newspaper stories for free through a public library where you have an account or user card. See this page and click the big blue library link.
- See NE2's comments below
- I did a bit of clean-up based on guidelines in the Manual of Style, but the finished article could use a further copyedit.
- It's not clear what 475 East refers to.
- See NE2's comment below, its now streets are numbered here
- More detail about Doug and Bruce Stephens would be helpful. You might say who are they and what motivated them.
- If I can find it I will put something in.
- An expanded article could use a photo, perhaps of the single tollbooth.
- Request for photo made in the WP banner
- A map might be useful.
- Map requested from the Map Task Force when I first created the article.
- The article should say how much the discount is and whether or not ExpressCard holders get a discount for each $10 or only the first $10.
- I will probably need to contact them to find out, but per their website it appears that its every $10
- It would be interesting to know if anything about the highway was or is controversial. Taxes and tolls often generate controversy.
- People wanted this, UDOT wouldn't build it.
I hope this helps. Finetooth (talk) 04:56, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Unfortunately, AccessMyLibrary only has selected Salt Lake Tribune articles that were distributed through "Knight-Ridder/Tribune Business News". 475 East is a street, essentially equivalent to 4¾th Street East. --NE2 05:34, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Thank you :) --Admrb♉ltz (t • c • log) 09:00, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Can anyone here access the full text of [5]? --NE2 07:08, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Unfortunately I cant access the Marriott library, since I am not with the U... --Admrb♉ltz (t • c • log) 08:41, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- That and/or the text of Davis County ordinances 10-1995 and 4-1999, as listed in [6]. --NE2 07:15, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- My "I can't think of many things to say about this article so this review will be rather short" review -
- Can the logo for the AAP be converted into PNG any way? It just looks rough; I'm sure the Graphics Lab will be able to do something
- Everything else that could be said has been mentioned already : ) And everyone else beat me to explaining what "475 East" was, darn. Good job NE2, you explained it like a true Utahn - CL — 18:08, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Is the logo actually used other than on their website? --NE2 19:37, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Not that I have seen. --Admrb♉ltz (t • c • log) 20:42, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- It probably doesn't belong in the article then. --NE2 22:20, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- We should probably move the logo out of the infobox and put it elsewhere in the article. Being in the former makes it look like it's signed with the silly shield. CL — 03:46, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- It probably doesn't belong in the article then. --NE2 22:20, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I expanded the description. I'll probably do the rest soon. --NE2 23:52, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Its looking great NE! I am impressed that this, now only .5 mile toll road is such a thorough article. --Admrb♉ltz (t • c • log) 23:53, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm wondering now if this belongs in WP:UTSH/WP:USRD... its not a highway per-say, tis a street, would it fit better in WP:USST? --Admrb♉ltz (t • c • log) 00:04, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- How is it not a highway? --NE2 00:09, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Map get. --Admrb♉ltz (t • c • log) 21:24, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
For the record, Toll Roads News is a reliable source for uncontroversial statements. --NE2 04:23, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
