Legacy[edit]This project is now complete. Please view the video (left) browse the report (right) or these pages to learn more. The project led to the county-wide Yorkshire Network Project. Continuation[edit]Staff of YMT have informally continued this project beyond its end-date. For detail see Legacy projects. Aims[edit]Like any GLAMwiki project, this is a partnership between the institution and the Wikimedia community facilitated by Wikimedia UK. It aims to:
Activities online[edit]The trust has artifacts, collections and expertise that are important to the city, the region and the world. The project aims to provide opportunities to improve the Wikipedia content related to each of these. The trust has a fantastic collection of curatorial and educational images. Many of these may be licensed appropriately for Wikimedia Commons. Further, there are existing images on Commons and across the web that may be enfolded into the project. There is scope for YMT to connect with other language wikipedias and other projects such as Wikidata and Wikiversity. A key test collection for the project is material related to Tempest Anderson. In particular, YMT is providing hi-resolution scans of c.250 images from Anderson's unique photographic collection. Activities offline[edit]Public and internal events are being run throughout the residency. Display case[edit]There is a plan to fill a display case in the foyer of the Yorkshire Museum with various items from the collection, labelled and explained. These will be linked with QRpedia and a general explanation of the WiR project will be attached. Resources[edit]For some introductory information, these two are great: For information about how Wikipedia works with cultural institutions, there are a huge number of resources on the GLAMwiki Bookshelf. A few of the best, and some relevant extras can be found below (click show).
Connections and contributors[edit]In addition to YMT staff and volunteers there are other local and online communities that the project intends to engage with. These include:
WikiProjects[edit]On Wikipedia, there are plenty of WikiProjects relevant to the trusts diverse collection:
