Suriname

[edit]

This chart is being used in numerous articles for Suriname. According to website's about us page, the chart is based on radio airplay and "social media trends". Is this considered a legitimate or notable chart? Cool Marc 09:03, 1 June 2024 (UTC) I am assuming no? I could not find any reliable sources reporting about this chart. The methodology is unclear. Radio airplay could be based on just on 1 radio station, and inclusion of "social media trends" which is real time data suggests to me this is not a legitimate chart. Cool Marc 11:25, 8 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No it's not reliable. The methodology says various radio stations but it doesn't state all of them. Also the term "social media trends" is vague. Without a clear methodology, its a hard no. >> Lil-unique1 (talk)21:53, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Country Aircheck

[edit]

Is Country Aircheck a reliable source for archival of the Mediabase country music charts? I often see Mediabase/Country Aircheck positions brought up in publicity on country music singers (for instance, the current publicity of "She's Somebody's Daughter" being the first self-released #1 to top the country charts; it got to #1 on Mediabase, but only #3 on Billboard Country Airplay). The Mediabase/Country Aircheck charts are also used on Country Top 40 with Fitz, so there does seem to be a significant degree of industry acceptance for their use. Tagging @Caldorwards4:, @Martin4647:, @ChrisTofu11961:, @Ss112:, @Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars: for feedback. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 19:19, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Based on their about us page I'd say yes. The person heavily involved is the same person who oversees Media Base charts. >> Lil-unique1 (talk)21:55, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hungary's Editors' Choice Top 40 chart

[edit]

This chart is listed among the deprecated charts stating that "this is a critic's list, not a reflection of sales or airplay". I think whoever wrote this possibly only assumed it from the chart's name and didn't take the time to look into it properly, or got the wrong information from somewhere. I'm from Hungary and this chart in fact was always an airplay chart and it was never a critic's list. At the bottom of this page (https://slagerlistak.hu/editors-choice-top-40-slagerlista) there is an explanation in Hungarian about how this airplay chart works and what's the difference between the "Rádiós Top 40" airplay chart and this one. "Rádiós Top 40" is based on audience impression, so the bigger a radio station the bigger the influence it has on the chart. The "Editors' Choice Top 40" airplay chart measures spins from all the stations without taking into consideration the reach of the radio stations. It is similar how in the USA there's Radio Songs chart with audience impression stats and the Pop Airplay chart with spins only. I would like to suggest that this chart should be eligible to use, but only when a song couldn't enter the "Rádiós Top 40" chart, as I believe that should be considered as the main one. What are your thoughts about this? Thanks for taking the time reading my suggestion Kirtap92 (talk) 09:20, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Kirtap92: Thanks for the information. Seeing that that's the case, I agree with you that this is indeed a reliable chart and can be used as long as the songs didn't enter the "Rádiós Top 40" already. Let's see if anyone else wants to comment on this. FanDePopLatino (talk) 22:26, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Radioscope certs

[edit]

Hello - on Radioscope's website you can search certifications for singles singles and albums. I am not sure if it was mentioned before. MrHyacinth (talk) 20:38, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Italy Airplay (EarOne)

[edit]

Is this chart considered an official one? It is currently included in a bunch of articles like I'm His, He's Mine, Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido, and Feels Like I'm Falling in Love. I haven't been able to find a GA where it has been used yet. NØ 23:21, 12 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Quoting myself from a previous discussion, yes, it is considered official and reliable by a variety of RS, eg. Corriere della Sera [1], La Repubblica [2], La Stampa [3] or Rolling Stone [4]. Never found any articles/sources questioning its reliability. An assortment of citations from just the last few days: Billboard [5], Il Resto del Carlino [6], Sky TG24 [7], Radio Italia [8], Fanpage.it [9], Tuttosport [10], Rockol [11], Affaritaliani [12], Radio Dimensione Suono [13] and others (eg. [14] or [15]). Cavarrone 20:30, 18 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indonesian music chart

[edit]

So, Indonesia, from its own Recording Industry Association (ASIRI), actually had their own weekly-updated music chart since 2023. They had ASIRI Top 50 Mixed Chart for all genres and Top 10 Indonesian Chart for the domestic releases. The charts were formulated by BMAT Music Innovators, just like The Official South African Charts and Indian Music Industry's IMI International Top 20 Singles. They only posted them on their Instagram page and Facebook page though, just like Malaysian's RIM Chart did. Can we start using this as official source? Billboard Canada charts

[edit]

All of the archives for Canada Digital Song Sales, Canada AC, Canada Hot AC, CHR/Top 40, and All-Format Airplay have been seemingly wiped from the Billboard website and no longer appear in artist chart histories. This is why it was important to have archived these URLs, especially for Canada Digital Song Sales as that also contained the 1996–2006 Nielsen SoundScan charts for Canada. Heartfox (talk) 07:14, 9 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed this too, I thought I was going crazy or something. It's like that for the Canada Rock songs charts too. Perhaps they are just under maintenance and updating the systems, to wipe the old system and implement a new one? The charts are set to update tonight locally, so maybe they might go back online then. If not, we might have a bigger issue on our hands here. Rockmusicfanatic20 (talk) 18:01, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ten days later, and there has been no notice from Billboard as to what is going on with the Canadian airplay charts or digital song sales. I am wondering if we should switch to using Pollstar (which posts Mediabase charts) for Canadian airplay. Otherwise, we will end up with little or no Canadian music charts outside of the Canadian Hot 100. Yeehaw45 (talk) 18:45, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support using Mediabase via Pollstar. Just need to format it as "Canada Country (Mediabase)", etc. I tried archviving the URL on Archive.org but it doesn't load, seems it only works for archive.today. Example. Heartfox (talk) 19:03, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, important to format it that way. Good catch with the archiving. I'll begin to use archive.today for these charts. -Yeehaw45 (talk) 19:22, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Pollstar also has a license to publish Mediabase charts. Per Mediabase website, The charts are "Published weekly in Pollstar..." Heartfox (talk) 19:08, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
