Notification of a TFA nomination
[edit]In the past, there have been requests that discussions about potentially controversial TFAs are brought to the attention of more than just those who have WP:TFAR on their watchlist. With that in mind: Fuck: Word Taboo and Protecting Our First Amendment Liberties has been nominated for an appearance as Today's Featured Article. If you have any views, please comment at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests. Thank you. — Cirt (talk) 17:24, 1 November 2014 (UTC)
Oddity related to Today's Featured Article - nominations for deletion?
[edit]Question about oddity related to Today's Featured Article, it would be interesting to please know how many articles that previously appeared successfully at Today's Featured Article were subsequently nominated for deletion?
I think that those statistics and articles and historical discussion pages would also be most interesting to list on this "Oddities" page.
Thank you,

- I don't think nominations should be listed, as there have no doubt been various bad faith/misguided attempts to delete perfectly valid articles (I don't know if the nomination you mention falls into that category or not). However it may be interesting if any previous TFAs have actually been deleted. Does anyone know of any? Optimist on the run (talk) 22:17, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
- Any deletions of FAs would be an FA oddity, but not a TFA oddity (since their deletion would be irrelevant to the fact that they had at some earlier point time appeared on the main page) so wouldn't belong here. The same goes, but even more so, for failed attempts at deletion (where Optimist's argument applies as well). But in any case, I can't see any deleted/redirected TFAs mentioned at WP:FFA or at WT:FFA so the question of whether to add anything here about such instances is purely hypothetical anyway. Oddity related to today's featured article
[edit]Today's featured article (the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster) was previously featured in January 2007 (exactly fifteen years ago). That isn't too unusual until you realize that it was demoted in August 2011 and then re-promoted in November 2021. To my knowledge, it is the only article that underwent the TFA process before and after the 2017 discussion. — Painting17 (talk) 20:59, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
