Good luck with this. You have your work cut out. Want to tag this? Dynablaster (talk) 19:28, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I think the hardest part (creating the project page, the templates and the categories etc) is over. I was thinking about making the project a few weeks back, but never got around to it 'til today. Pyrrhus16 19:44, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox reality music competition

[edit]

So, although I originally made it for Idol seasons, I have finished up a new infobox template for individual seasons of a reality music competition, Template:Infobox reality music competition. Enjoy! ViperSnake151 20:53, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, that's really good. Thanks for letting us know. :) Pyrrhus16 20:56, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's a lot better than the general template we have for all series of The X Factor. But maybe we should make our own infobox from that because we don't want to use American English words like "season". Plus I would have liked the option to list all the final 12 contestants in the template. anemoneprojectors 22:58, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I changed that so it now gets it by default from the page title so you can use that name, and added a runner-up field. And yes, you can change the color. I'm gonna try it out on the UK season articles just as a trial run. ViperSnake151 01:43, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Great stuff! But song titles should be formatted like "This" not like This. I've fixed it. :) anemoneprojectors 11:31, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dannii Minogue GA Sweeps: On Hold

[edit]

I have reviewed Dannii Minogue for GA Sweeps to determine if it still qualifies as a Good Article. In reviewing the article I have found several issues, which I have detailed here. Since the article falls under the scope of this project, I figured you would be interested in contributing to further improve the article. Please comment there to help the article maintain its GA status. If you have any questions, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. --Happy editing! X Factor articles have been selected for the Wikipedia 0.8 release

[edit]

Version 0.8 is a collection of Wikipedia articles selected by the Wikipedia 1.0 team for offline release on USB key, DVD and mobile phone. Articles were selected based on their assessed importance and quality, then article versions (revisionIDs) were chosen for trustworthiness (freedom from vandalism) using an adaptation of the WikiTrust algorithm.

We would like to ask you to review the X Factor articles and revisionIDs we have chosen. Selected articles are marked with a diamond symbol (♦) to the right of each article, and this symbol links to the selected version of each article. If you believe we have included or excluded articles inappropriately, please contact us at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8 with the details. You may wish to look at your WikiProject's articles with cleanup tags and try to improve any that need work; if you do, please give us the new revisionID at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8. We would like to complete this consultation period by midnight UTC on Monday, October 11th.

We have greatly streamlined the process since the Version 0.7 release, so we aim to have the collection ready for distribution by the end of October, 2010. As a result, we are planning to distribute the collection much more widely, while continuing to work with groups such as One Laptop per Child and Wikipedia for Schools to extend the reach of Wikipedia worldwide. Please help us, with your WikiProject's feedback!

Leon Jackson

[edit]

Under the paragraph entitled "early life", you say that Leon Jackson was "a fan of contemporary jazz" his hero being "Noel Gallagher" - I don't see the connection as Gallagher is surely, together with his brother, part of a rock band. Paula - razmajazz @ www.europaradiojazz.com —Preceding unsigned comment added by Razmajazz (talkcontribs) 01:28, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, it was unnoticed vandalism from 8 November and should have said "Michael Bublé". AnemoneProjectors 01:39, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Misha B article - consensus request

[edit]

Hi WikiProject The X Factor - there has been considerable discussion about when it is allowed for X Factor contestants to have their own article. This is an invitation to express your opinion on what would be the guidelines writers/editors/users could follow so that we could hopefully avoid arguments in the future. Here is the current talk page for discussion -- User_talk:NewzealanderA/Misha_B#User_Consensus_Request. I would like to see the resulting consensus be placed on your article page to guide users in the future and avoid confusion. Thank you! -- NewzealanderA (talk) 23:48, 2 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Separate article for X-factor finalists

[edit]

As alluded to by the post above, about Misha B (Series 8), there has been much discussion about whether X-Factor finalists should be entitled to have their own Wikipedia article. I'm surprised there's nothing (that I can spot) on the Project page which explains the current consensus. There seems to me there is enduring consensus for the last 8 series that finalists should be included on Wikipedia under a list article (which seems sensible to me BTW). I also read a comment somewhere that the winner and runner up could have their own article straight away(?). Is that correct?
Would it be helpful to summarise the current consensus prominently on the WikiProject The X Factor page, because I imagine this will be one of the first places editors will look for information and advice? Sionk (talk) 00:21, 8 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I came in as a reviewer to the Misha B. page and was not aware of this WikiProject page (at first) but was aware of the notability guidelines. I agree that there needs to be a written consensus of some kind on this topic -- this would be helpful and would help to avoid unnecessary debating on the subject to a large extent. But, a) I don't know why X Factor or a certain X Factor season would or should be treated differently than other contestant shows or seasons based on the fact that WP:N specifically says "Determining notability does not necessarily depend on things like fame, importance, or popularity—although those may enhance the acceptability of a subject that meets the guidelines explained below," and b) it would be preferable, if possible, for there to be an update at WP:BAND with a note about contestant artists -- instead of just singling out the X Factor Project page, which speaks more to an insider audience.-- NewzealanderA (talk) 02:14, 8 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Specific to Misha B

[edit]

Misha B career and media coverage has clearly moved on since X factor UK in 2011, to warrant her own page. How many areas of notability are required for an internationally notable music artist (even though she is an artist from a national televised music competition)for their own page?

How many areas of verifiable independent notability does Misha B require for her own page.

  • 1 - Has been placed in rotation nationally by a *major radio* or music television network [Home Run, released in 3 days, is already on the, BBC radio 1, BBC Radio 1 Extra Playlists and many major independent UK networks].[YES]
  • 2 - Unreleased material (including demos, mixtapes, bootlegs, promo-only recordings) is only notable if it has significant independent coverage in reliable sources. [Both her F64 for SBTV and her mix tape Why Hello World received lots of reliable internet music press coverage, possibly add Home Run (inc. its various remixes and acoustic versions)]*[YES]
  • 3 - Has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable and are independent from the musician or ensemble itself. (Lots of current and post X factor internet music press stuff)[YES]
  • 4 - Is frequently covered in publications devoted to a notable sub-culture. [UK Soul, Hip Hop, Grime and others][YES]
  • 5 - Has received lots of reliable internet music press coverage[Misha B, Home Run and her unreleased material have all received substantial music websites coverage in the UK, US and other countries]*[YES]

In all of the above she is independently notable, rather than just the appearing on the show:

  • 6 - Has won or *placed* in a major music competition. [X factor is probably the best known music competition in the UK, she came 4th][YES]
  • 7 - Has been a featured subject of a substantial broadcast segment across a national radio or TV network. [X factor finals for 9 weeks] etc etc [YES]Zoeblackmore (talk) 00:08, 12 July 2012 (UTC)Zoeblackmore (talk) 10:15, 12 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Personally, I would no longer oppose a separate article about her because, like you say, her impending single is on the BBC Radio 1 'B-list'. This is on top of the fact the single has received some attention by some press sources (and often positive). Some of the other claims are a bit exaggerated - appearing for a few minutes on Saturday nights is hardly a 'substantial broadcast segment'.
All the same it will probably be in your interest to wait till her single is released next week. It's only a few extra days to wait and there are other editors gunning for this type of article who might not be so sympathetic. You can prepaer an article in your sandbox and/or collaborate with the other editor who's pushing this topic... Sionk (talk) 11:24, 12 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed, sorry about being so obsessive. I ought to learn to use my sandbox more as I do make silly editing mistakes.Zoeblackmore (talk) 16:38, 12 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Albums and singles

[edit]

Why are all albums and singles released by any contestant included in the scope of this project? Originally, I only tagged winners' singles, and songs written/performed on the show, such as "It's Chico Time" or "Under Pressure (Ice Ice Baby)" (actually neither of those are tagged in this project). Other singles aren't actually related to the show, so why are loads of One Direction and Leona Lewis (among others) songs included? –AnemoneProjectors11:39, 30 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Me and another editor Rui78901 are having a difference of opinion about layout and content of the Misha B page, over the last three weeks the have been a few reverts, both ways, we have started a discussion on the talk page, if you have time please contribute any advice, comment or recommendation either way or other. Thank you in advance....Zoebuggie☺whispers 12:34, 5 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A bit of help from the Wikiproject.

[edit]

I nominated Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of songs recorded by Leona Lewis/archive2 over a month ago and it hasn't had many comments from reviewers and editors. One of the reviewers hasn't been online for over a week, and another hasn't responded to some comments I have replied. I was advised to leave a note on the list's wikiproject's asking for anyone who may have some time to spare to review the list and leave comments. A vote on whether or not you feel the article is worthy of FL status would also be appreciated so that the FLC can make some progress. Thanks. Aaron You Da One 23:39, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion

[edit]

Can we make new revision with this type of table?

  • From this:
Category (mentor) Acts
Category A (Judge A) Act A.A Act A.B Act A.C
Category B (Judge B) Act B.A Act B.B Act B.C
Category C (Judge C) Act C.A Act C.B Act C.C
Category D (Judge D) Act D.A Act D.B Act D.C
  • To this:
Category Mentor Acts
Category A Judge A Act A.A Act A.B Act A.C
Category B Judge B Act B.A Act B.B Act B.C
Category C Judge C Act C.A Act C.B Act C.C
Category D Judge D Act D.A Act D.B Act D.C

The changes will make the table more neat and organized to look at. I have already implemented this table to The X Factor Philippines (season 1), and I hope we can implement this on other articles as well.--Renzoy16 | Contact Me 18:36, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Misha B Again sorry

[edit]

Sorry to bother you, but I need help and thought you might be interested.

I have requested the re-opening the Dispute Resolution mechanism for the Misha B article @ Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard/Archive 38 as the debate about neutrality has really flared up. on User talk:Steven Zhang who closed the original Dispute Resolution based on my suggestion...no one else in the dispute contributed.

or should I go to formal mediation?

I make no pretence that I am a fan, I guess the majority articles about (living) people are started and mainly contributed by those who are 'fans', but my contibutions have been done in good faith regards neutrality (as a newbie I have made mistakes...like not spotting blogs) I always take personal criticism and attacks maybe too seriously but I have said I welcome genuine verifiable editing contributions from others, even when they remove my contributions, which can be seen from page history.

Why does the Misha article read like a magazine article?

I would very much welcome a neutral viewpoint from someone not involved in the article......as I getting tired of replying to the same accusations, its making me feel ill....Zoebuggie☺whispers 00:24, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Should albums and singles really be within the scope of this project?

[edit]

Other than winners' singles and original songs debuted on the show ("Chico Time" etc), what reason is there to include all singles and albums from contestants in this project? Once the show is over, their music is nothing to do with the show. I've never seen the point in including these articles within the scope of this project, as there is only a very loose relationship. So I would like to amend the project scope to remove them. Thoughts? Objections? –AnemoneProjectors08:55, 24 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I just noticed I brought this up in July as well and nobody commented then. –AnemoneProjectors12:36, 28 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, this WikiProject is for all things X Factor-related and that doesn't include contestants' singles and albums released after their time on the show. The only articles that should be in this project are X Factor articles, winners' singles, original songs from the show, and judges' and contestants' biography articles. — Oz (talk) 21:23, 28 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, they should be included, because without X Factor, they would most likely not have been given a record deal. Let's not forget that Leona was rejected from a record label before X Factor. AARONTALK 21:25, 28 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Agree with the latter's notion and its very helpful. —AdabowtheSecond 22:19, 28 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The link between Leona Lewis's song "Glassheart" for example and The X Factor is only that several years earlier, she was on it. That's no reason to include it in the scope. As it is, the project says "not every song will fall under this scope", but I think it should be cut down to only those directly related to the show - the fact that a singer got a record deal because they were on this show is not really valid for the WikiProject. –AnemoneProjectors22:25, 28 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well it is because Leona is an X Factor product. All her articles should be in this Wikiproject, or none of them. You can't say some should and some shouldn't. AARONTALK 22:33, 28 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Once more I agree with the latter's notion. Just to note you decide whether you contribute to an article or not doesn't matter which Wikiproject its in, for me this Wikiproject is very helpful as One Direction articles really don't have any other Wikiprojects and these things come in really handy when you want to know if something significant is going on. —AdabowtheSecond 00:29, 29 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Two should. Leona Lewis and A Moment Like This. Sorry but I just don't see a reason to include anything else. It's like including her albums in the Television WikiProject because she was on television. The scope already says we don't include every song, so why are we trying to include every song? This was basically copied from the Idol series WikiProject, and Will Young's songs aren't included in that for the same reason. –AnemoneProjectors13:05, 29 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree, if a contestant was/is on The X Factor their an The X Factor product, which means all of their articles belong in this Wikiproject. If we're going to decide on WP:Consensus, I'm against it. —AdabowtheSecond 19:03, 30 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
AnemoneProjectors: Then Hallelujah, Canonball etc. should be included too by your reasoning. AARONTALK 19:14, 30 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, all winners' singles should because they are debuted on The X Factor and released as a direct consequence of winning. Anything else is only loosely related. –AnemoneProjectors10:34, 31 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • I have to agree. I can't think of a good example, but it simply doesn't matter if all of their articles are part of X Factor project or just one. The only songs that should be included should be related to X Factor; not just because they appeared on the show. I would go as far to say just to include them if they were releases by Syco. Say, for example, a winner got dropped and got signed to a new label. Their new music wouldn't be part of X Factor project, because it isn't related to it at all. Zac (talk · contribs) 21:46, 30 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That would make more sense - so anyone who wasn't signed to Syco wouldn't have their music included (e.g Misha B and Jedward (according to their articles) - obviously they would be a part of the project as contestants). It might be a good compromise. But I'm still not sure about, say, Leona's recent releases, because by this stage she's even less associated with the show than when "Bleeding Love" came out. But as I say, this might be compromise. I'm not sure what articles are currently tagged as part of the project and therefore which ones would be taken out if we agreed to this. Usuaully, inclusion in a Wikiproject is based on categorisation, so we would only include articles in Category:The X Factor (TV series) and its subcategories. –AnemoneProjectors10:34, 31 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This may need a reboot because all the Leona Lewis albums and singles (apart from "A Moment Like This") have been removed from this project. –AnemoneProjectors08:46, 22 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Consensus on Results Table and other Table Formats

[edit]

I have been trying to apply changes to the results table in The X Factor Philippines (season 1) of which the article was using until Qjtv2911 changed it to the traditional format (of which every other articles are also using). Now my point here is, as Wikipedia is an encyclopedia who is always into changes, I would like to make a suggestion to change the formats of the tables of X Factor is using, or at least in the Philippines franchise of X Factor.

Qjtv2911 and I have revamping the tables to our 'likes'. He is into traditional, and I'm in favor in making changes for it since there was no really consensus to use it. And I think the traditional format is dull and outdated.

Hello? --Renzoy16 | Contact Me 05:20, 9 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. What are the main differences? I'd disagree with making layout changes, especially removing WP:ACCESS features such as "scope=row". You're free to add a "notes" row if you feel it's necessary, but not all the notes might be needed. –AnemoneProjectors16:48, 9 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Oh and we agreed there's no need to include the original artist - sometimes it's disputed, but the article about the song can be clicked on anyway to find out. So I wouldn't agree to that change either. And please use the word "two" and not the number "2" for "bottom two". That's standard English. Any other major changes you've made? –AnemoneProjectors16:55, 9 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I understand all of that. I have modified the article already. However, he still tries to make some changes that are not really pleasing to the eyes. I am quite OC with this kinds of things in the article like spacing of table columns, and other sorts... of which he always reverts. You can look over this history pages of the article:
regarding Week 10's Round 1 and Round 2, as far as I remember, the show presenter had just announced the third and then the show goes on a commercial break... after that the winner was then announced. So those rounds are really not necessary. I think this rounds are just needed as when the third placer was eliminated the day before the grand winner was announced. And regarding the last two colors (lightgreen and pink) in the row of 'eliminated', I didn't apply using the red color to the third and runner up as they werent really eliminated in the last episode of the show. And the color distinguishes who made it to the top 3.--Renzoy16 | Contact Me 11:36, 16 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes you are right, you don't need "rounds" for the final if there was only a short break, and the voting lines did not re-open after the third place announcement. And you are right about the second and third place not being "eliminated". Third place would be if the lines re-opened, but it doesn't look like they did in this case. I quite like your compacted table but we do like to have the voting percentages in where known, and also we've just started removing the winners from the "eliminated" row, since they're not actually eliminated. –AnemoneProjectors15:54, 16 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for taking time for reading my suggestions and somehow apply it. One thing, aren't the runner-ups need to be in red? They werent really eliminated too. At least we identify them as part of the final acts of the last week of the show. Like, atleast a separate background color... pink maybe (from the color keys with least votes), just like I did in the X Factor Philippines article. --Renzoy16 | Contact Me 16:33, 16 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the current standard for The X Factor articles is The X Factor (UK series 9), where we decided that the runner-up should go on the "eliminated" row but for the final week, we don't colour them in since you are technically right. Maybe we need further discussion on the runner-up being listed as "eliminated" too. Maybe it should be changed to "result" and then other things can be put in like wildcards etc. –AnemoneProjectors17:52, 16 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I was thinking of the same that maybe we could change the word "eliminated" to "result" so that other info can be accommodated. I will suggestthat we make the weekly table that has the songs and etc equal(except for those with special themes like week songs taken from movies, etc)... having of the same width so that the articles will not look disproportional. One question, why are the weekly eliminated acts (weekly tables) not in bold? Or can I apply that in the Philippines article? I have applied that before but Qjtv2911 changed it.--Renzoy16 | Contact Me 18:14, 16 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You shouldn't really use bold text in that way. I don't think the columns need to be equal, but you can do it if you want in your pages. –AnemoneProjectors09:23, 17 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Then we can add two color to the color keys noting that red is eliminated and pink as runner ups (right color keys will depend on our consensus). You can add a color note too in the color key stating for quit or withdrawal/ejected or removed/wildcard; but I suggest that you apply them only when these things happen in the show. We can hide those colors first and removed the wiki codes when its time to use them.--Renzoy16 | Contact Me 18:36, 16 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

as the winner is the result, not the runners-up. You would have to add what the result was (eliminated, won, etc). A withdrawal isn't really a result. –AnemoneProjectors09:23, 17 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well you are right, withdrew is not result... but, I think it would be better to add those who withdrew/quit/ejected. And i think adding 'eliminated' isn't really necessary since there are color keys, and the word 'eliminated (week x) is in the table already.--Renzoy16 | Contact Me 10:01, 18 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
We could do what Big Brother articles do and add a row for withdrawals or ejections. I disagree that we don't need to add "eliminated" since we shouldn't use only colour to portray information, we should use text. We must imagine the table without colour. –AnemoneProjectors16:05, 18 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm... okay but withdrawals and ejections are rare in the show, so it would only be used when a situation occurs. So when none of it happens in a show, it shouldn't be included in the table. --Renzoy16 | Contact Me 17:08, 18 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Of course. It's happened a few times in the UK. Emily Nakanda and Lucy Spraggan both withdrew, and Frankie Cocozza was ejected. I think that's it... –AnemoneProjectors17:42, 18 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Okay everything is okay now. I would like to implement other things in the X Factor PH's article. I want to improve the X Factor UK is using... but not really deviating to the general format. I hope this is okay cause ‎Qjtv2911 is editing the tables again. Jeez. He's distracting me.--Renzoy16 | Contact Me 08:34, 21 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hyphens and capitalisations?

[edit]

I've watched the show every year and I don't recall there ever being hyphens between "over" and "25/28" (or "25" "and" "overs" in series 1). Also, on the "List of" pages, the leads and the captions in the images of the judges don't capitalise the first letter of the categories either. Not just that there's a number of other sources too. CBA listing them all. Unreal7 (talk) 20:06, 14 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sure I/someone would have checked to make sure they were hyphenated on screen, but this year they're clearly not. We should go with what's used on screen for that particular series in that particular country, though that might mean different years use different spellings, so maybe just use the most recent usage throughout for all that country's series. As for capitals, I don't know why we always started writing the categories that way, but my feeling is there are categories with the names "Boys", "Girls", etc, rather than categories which are for boys and girls, etc. –AnemoneProjectors14:11, 15 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Chiara Galiazzo

[edit]

I created an article about Chiara Galiazzo, the winner of the sixth series of the Italian version of X Factor. Recently, the "copy editing" template was added to the article. Since English is not my mother tongue, the article probably contains some grammar errors, therefore it would be very helpful if a native speaker could improve it. I asked for suggestions to the user who tagged the article, but he is Italian too, and he suggested me to wait for contributions by users with English as their mother tongue. I would be grateful if you could check it! --Stee888 (talk) 13:35, 22 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I found one spelling mistake. The rest reads perfectly fine. –AnemoneProjectors16:25, 22 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I need your help

[edit]

This 14 year-old kid, Qjtv2911 seems don't know how to understand. He keeps trying to revert all my edits as I really made some modifications of the table and edit formats of The X Factor Philippines (season 1) such as:

  1. changed the background color of the runner-ups of the elimination row of the summary table
  2. changed the color keys as most of the color keys he insist do not apply to the Philippine version (also, as part of improving the color formats of which I think is really needed)
  3. combined the ratings table
  4. few modifications on the section headings (live show weekly dates). I feel that the one I am implementing is much more nice to look at when comparing it to the generic format. And its more encyclopedic than the generic version applied to most X Factor articles.
  5. made all the tables width proportional except for some others.

I told him before that the X Factor Project community has no problems with revisions I am making. So I told him to stop editing the formats cause they are okay and acceptable to the community.

Here is a comparison of the article versions:

Can you please tell this kid to stop reverting my modified edits. 'Cause I think he will not stop this unless anyone from this community tells him to.--Renzoy16 (talk) 15:18, 25 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Replacing One → 1 in Season summary section tables

[edit]

Just a question. Why do we use One, Two, Three, Four, etc. in season summary tables? Why not use a number instead of a word. --AR E N Z O Y 1 6At a l k 12:02, 4 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Probably because numbers below ten are normally spelled out, but this is probably a different case and when we get to the 21st UK series, we're not going to put "Twenty-one", we're going to put "21". Or are we? Maybe. I don't know. –AnemoneProjectors16:24, 4 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That is what I am concerned of... what if... just a what if, a certain version has more than 10 seasons already. Are we going to put there: Thirteen, Fourteen, Fifteen, Sixteen, Seventeen, Eighteen? I think they should be replaced by numbers instead of using words.
And honestly, putting a 'number word' is too much; it is an exaggeration.--AR E N Z O Y 1 6At a l k 16:32, 4 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal

[edit]

Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:48, 1 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject X is live!

[edit]

Hello everyone!

You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

Request for information on WP1.0 web tool

[edit]

Hello and greetings from the maintainers of the WP 1.0 Bot! As you may or may not know, we are currently involved in an overhaul of the bot, in order to make it more modern and maintainable. As part of this process, we will be rewriting the web tool that is part of the project. You might have noticed this tool if you click through the links on the project assessment summary tables.

We'd like to collect information on how the current tool is used by....you! How do you yourself and the other maintainers of your project use the web tool? Which of its features do you need? How frequently do you use these features? And what features is the tool missing that would be useful to you? We have collected all of these questions at this Google form where you can leave your response. Walkerma (talk) 04:25, 27 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
