Dropping the suffix R???

[edit]

In the past, when all Southern Hemisphere tropical cyclones were mentioned in a single page, an unofficial suffix R was added to distinguish the number given by different agencies. However, we are now having a separate page for SW Indian Ocean TCs, should we drop the suffix?

It is just like in the Atlantic page, we say Tropical Depression One rather than Tropical Depression 01L.202.40.137.199 (talk)

yes since the cyclone pages are separated, I believe the prefixes are not necessary anymore. - グリフオーザー (talk) 21:39, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If there are no objections in 2 weeks, I'll remove the suffix R.202.40.137.199 (talk) 05:59, 28 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cyclone Fame

[edit]

About impact in Besalampy, Madagascar (in French). [1] Ramisses (talk) 00:08, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cyclone Ivan

[edit]

Cyclone Ivan needs to have its own article. 201.66.123.1 (talk) 18:02, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Due to the devastation caused by Ivan, I agree that there should be an article for it. Cyclonebiskit (talk) 15:03, 1 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
An article is being worked on, and it should be ready later today. ♬♩ Hurricanehink (talk) 16:08, 1 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tropical Storm 01S

[edit]

Since this Storm was not monitored by RSMC La Reunion and wasnt monitored by the JTWC untill it reached the Australian Basin, I think we should remove it from the SWIO page and merge it with the details on the Australian page. Thoughts? Jason Rees (talk) 21:49, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You can comment it out. It may need to be added back in when the 2008 JTWC best track comes out.Potapych (talk) 23:34, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
ok Done - i will also merge the details in to the Austrailian article Jason Rees (talk) 21:39, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know where the section went, but it should go back in now, without the RSMC data. On this side it peaked at 30 knots with 1000 mbar pressure. Potapych (talk) 20:39, 4 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've added what I had in a sandbox for this season that I was working on. Cyclonebiskit 21:20, 4 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to put its peak intensity from the other side of 90E (using JTWC) since Meteo France doesn't seem to care where storms in their database peaked. If you want to use BoM's information here, that is a judgement call. Potapych (talk) 19:09, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
We have to use BoM data here as MFR did not recognise itJason Rees (talk) 19:23, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The BoM assessed the storm to have 40kt winds and 992mbar pressure within MFR's area of responsibility. We should probably keep the intensity to what it was within the SWIO, meaning the 1-min intensity will be 30kts. Cyclonebiskit 19:37, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You don't have to use BoM information at all. Regardless, Meteo France doesn't care where storms in their database peak (look at Itseng), and obviously this basin doesn't exist to JTWC, so I will change the information back. Potapych (talk) 20:39, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect dates

[edit]

Some dates of storm disspation arent correct. HurricaneSpin (talk) 00:46, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently so. Someone put the dissipation date to when the low (including extratropical phase) dissipated. Cyclonebiskit 00:48, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

During several automated bot runs the following external link was found to be unavailable. Please check if the link is in fact down and fix or remove it in that case!

Merge proposal

[edit]

Cyclone Kamba should be mergee to 2007–08 South-West Indian Ocean cyclone season, as Kamba wasn't that meteorologically extraordinary of a storm, it doesn't have any impact on land. --219.79.226.134 (talk) 16:08, 16 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Cyclonebiskit and Jason Rees: please join the discussion. --219.79.226.134 (talk) 07:21, 17 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
