Issues for improvement

[edit]

This article reads like a news release. Parts of it were pasted in from the subject's web sites with only minor changes, hence the lack of compliance with The Wikipedia manual of style. Quotes are cherry-picked and require citation as footnotes containing full bibliographic information and the quote in its original language if it has been translated. Removal of maintenance tags

[edit]

Please don't remove maintenance tags until the issues have been addressed. They alert other editors who can help. The Recording section is lifted verbatim including the typography from http://www.donaldgeorge.de/en/cdlist.htm It needs proper formatting according to the Wikipedia Manual of Style. The titles of works and albums should not be in upper case letters and they should be italicized. The works should also be linked to the appropriate Wikipedia article. I've done the first two as an example.

Also, take a look at the guidance for singers' biographies at WikiProject Opera. The endless and uninformative name dropping of famous conductors and ensembles is just one example of why this article still reads like a press release instead of an encyclopedia article. To the two main contributors to this article, I strongly suspect you have a close professional or personal relationship with the subject. Trust me, an article like this actually does Donald George, who is a notable singer, a great disservice. Any neutral observer can spot publicity a mile away. November 2010

[edit]

I have restored the maintenance tags, which the article's main editor has repeatedly removed. None of the issues outlined above have been remedied and even more unreferenced claims have been added. It is still written in a promotional style with cherry-picked quotes from publications which are not from the original source but re-printed on their website. The biography is completely devoid of citations to sources independent of the subject which verify the claims and no effort has been made to make this promotional CV conform to the Wikipedia Manual of Style. The issues have been addressed by the Guild of Copyeditors. Some unreferenced items that could eventually be sourced have been allowed to remain, however, they should be removed if not sourced within seven days (this will not deplete the quality of the article). The WP:WikiProject Opera is invited to maintain the current standard of the page and to remove any future unsourced additions, and to verify the authenticity of cited sources. --Kudpung (talk) 16:17, 30 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
