I'll review this. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 15:32, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'll make notes as I read through; I may not be able to finish today.

  • The Daily Express is a generally unreliable source. For the sports facts you're using it for I'm not very worried, but can you find a better source?
  • Similarly we try not to cite Twitter, except where needed to support something like the fact that a tweet occurred. Again I would think a better source could be found.
  • I'm not familiar with SB Nation; it seems to be partly fan written, and the post you're citing seems to be a blog post. See discussion here. Can we replace this, or can you show the contributor is a recognized expert in the field?
  • For Bleacher Report, see here; can better sources be found?
  • What makes neymarjr.com a reliable source?
  • What makes wittyfutty.com a reliable source?
  • The lead is a little short for an article of this length; I think it would be easy to add a few more details and beef it up a little.
  • I won't hold up GA for this, because the prose requirements for GA are only that the prose is clear and concise, but there is a fair amount of proseline. See the 2018-19 paragraphs for some examples: at one point eight sentences in a row start with "On <date>, ...". This would prevent the article becoming featured, if you decide to try for that.
  • Why do we need the long quote from La Brune? We haven't actually quoted whatever it is he's responding to, and even it was prompted by Mbappé's decision to stay with PSG there seems no reason to go off on a paragraph-long tangent about the spat between La Liga and Ligue 1.
  • "a sparkling performance": a bit too POV. Something like "strong" would be OK. Similarly for "his prodigious talent"; I would just say "In 2017, Nike launched Mbappé's personalised football boots...".
  • Seven instances of "also" in the style of play section -- again not a problem for GA, but I would recommend eliminating most or all of them.
  • Suggest cutting the sentence about Ethan from the "Personal life" section -- Ethan's connection to PSG is already mentioned earlier in the article, and if we want to keep this factoid it would better placed there.

Overall this is in pretty good shape; the main issue is the unreliable sources. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 17:51, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Paul Vaurie, just checking that you are planning to work on this. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 10:58, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Mike Christie: Hey, thanks for the review! I completely forgot about this, sorry. I don’t have a computer right now because it’s in repair, so I don’t know how long it will be until I can edit Wikipedia properly again, because right now I’m only making small edits on my phone. I’ll fix these things you listed for me eventually. Also, I’m sure there are plenty of other editors of this article who would be willing to help. Perhaps you or I could contact a few of them to help? I know I’m the nominator, but maybe others would be interested in helping too. Thanks again, Paul Vaurie (talk) 14:54, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Paul, no problem if you want to wait a week or two -- I can just leave this till you get time, so long as it's not too long. And of course it doesn't matter who fixes the issues, so if you know someone you'd like to ask to work on the article, go ahead. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 15:13, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Paul, checking in again -- it's been another week. Have you been able to find anyone else who can work on the article, or do you have your computer back yet? Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 10:26, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Mike Christie: I've just gotten my computer back recently. Will get working on it promptly. Cheers, Paul Vaurie (talk) 16:55, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Paul, another nudge.... Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 00:42, 30 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Mike Christie: I’ll work on this during the weekend. If I don’t do it by Monday, feel free to end the review. I’m quite busy. Thanks! Paul Vaurie (talk) 16:42, 1 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thanks for the heads up. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 17:18, 1 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Failing per the comment above. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 09:49, 5 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Mike Christie: Thanks anyways! I'll renominate when I address all the comments. Paul Vaurie (talk) 17:33, 5 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
