I moved the following from the article to the talk page for now pending re-inclusion in the article when reliable sources have been provided to support the material per WP:V. Regarding the name, see WP:TITLE. If the are multiple spellings we can include them with redirects. I'll add the official site though as an external link. Submitted by a Livna resident.

The correct name of this village is LIVNA, not Livne. The name Livna refers not to birch (as written above) but to a Jewish biblical city of the same name. However, because the original Livna was situated significantly north of today's village, the Israeli Naming Authority deemed that the name "Livna" was not appropriate and chose the name Shani instead. The meaning of the word "Shani" is indeed scarlet, and in this case Shani was taken from a text in the Old Testament refering to a scarlet thread.

As was popular during the time of its establishment (and as is noted above), Livna was constructed straddling the "Green line". About 85% of the homes were built inside the Green Line, on land that is undisputedly part of Israel. The security fence was constructed north of the village, running between Livna and the West Bank village of Samoa. Muslim Samoa was built over the site of the ancient city Eshtamoa, a Jewish city noted in the bible.

In 2011, Livna is home to about 110 families. The village's website is http://www.shani-livna.org/

Any additional comments:

The correct name of Livne is "Livna. Thanks, Happy138 (talk) 20:22, 3 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have any evidence to support this?--174.93.171.10 (talk) 02:34, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed that the user proposing the moved changed all instances of Livne to Livna. I changed it back [to Livne] for the time being since there no evidence was provided that the wrong name was used and I think it article should not use Livna until there is evidence that Livna is in fact the actual name.--174.93.171.10 (talk) 02:42, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding move

[edit]

I think the discussion should've been relisted because it didn't get enough input, but whatever the case, I'd at least like to see those sources about Livna. What does "GB sources" mean? At least from a Hebrew language perspective, the word is certainly written and pronounced Livne(h), with an emphasis on the last syllable so there's no mistaking it. I have moved the page because there was no opposition to the above. —Ynhockey (Talk) 15:48, 7 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
