The result of the move request was: Moved. (non-admin closure) Adumbrativus (talk) 08:26, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
- Marko Maletić → Marko Maletić (footballer, born 1993)
- Marko Maletic (soccer) → Marko Maletic (soccer, born 1999)
– Neither appears to be Primary. Page views are minimal for both. Create DAB at base Marko Maletic. RedPatch (talk) 03:22, 8 January 2022 (UTC) — Relisting. Extraordinary Writ (talk) 07:55, 15 January 2022 (UTC)
- Note: This discussion has been included in WikiProject Football's list of association football-related page moves. RedPatch (talk) 02:39, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
- Support per nom, and turn base into dab page. GiantSnowman 10:41, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
- Support and make DAB at base name.--Ortizesp (talk) 23:40, 9 January 2022 (UTC)
- Support per nom. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:37, 12 January 2022 (UTC)
- Strong Oppose as proposed. The first is actually Marko Maletić (Bosnian footballer) and the second is Marko Maletic (Canadian soccer player). See what I did here? Made the two titles distinguishable by human beings. We are here to server WP:READERSFIRST, and you cannot expect a casual reader, or even a casual editor, to distinguish a 23-year old from a 29-year old without actually opening both articles. This is a spectacular fiasco of following WP:RECOGNIZABLE and WP:NCDAB by WP:FOOTBALL. No such user (talk) 11:36, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
- The DAB page is what would help distinguish the two as per WP:NFOOTY. Nationality is not a good disambiguator in this case since the footballer born 1993 is Bosnian-Dutch-Serbian, and the footballer born 1999 is Croatian-Canadian.--Ortizesp (talk) 18:15, 15 January 2022 (UTC)
- Support per nomination, GiantSnowman, Ortizesp and Necrothesp. Likewise support creation of a Marko Maletic disambiguation page that would list Marko Maletić (footballer, born 1993) as well as Marko Maletic (soccer, born 1999). —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 03:14, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
- Weak support both use diacritics and although the views for this one are 74 compared with 32 for the other, views are sometimes similar. Crouch, Swale (talk) 10:24, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
- Comment. Currently, the name without the diacritic — Marko Maletic — is a redirect to the Bosnian footballer — Marko Maletić — whose name does use a diacritic. As a result, the main title header of the entry for the Canadian — Marko Maletic (soccer) who was born in Canada and does not use a diacritic — is forced to adopt the parenthetical qualifier "(soccer)". Taking those facts into consideration, although I voted "Support per nomination", I would also support the proposal by No such user since the two men's birthplaces are at the root of their diacritic–no diacritic surnames. Ultimately, of course, "The DAB page is what would help distinguish the two", per Ortizesp. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 22:10, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
- Comment Why is one called a footballer and one soccer? Isn't there a standard disambiguator for soccer players?Mozzie (talk) 10:21, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
- This is due to WP:LANGVAR and is how WP:FOOTY disambiguates. If the player is from a country that calls the sport soccer, soccer is used. If the player is from a county that calls the sport football, footballer is used. RedPatch (talk) 18:24, 19 January 2022 (UTC)
