Not a Main Game
[edit]Kojima Productions, Konami and other sources, even Hideo Kojima himself, have oftentimes stated, that the game is not a main game. While it still is canonical, no denial of that, it still is a spin-off. The article should reflect that. 141.35.40.137 (talk) 10:09, 16 April 2013 (UTC)
- Didn't we already discuss this? No source, no proof. Also, by spin-off it means that the gameplay is different from previous games. Making such weird statements will such confuse the readers who will wonder what's the difference.Tintor2 (talk) 12:55, 16 April 2013 (UTC)
- It has been discussed pretty munch everywhere. As for confusing the reader: aside from Metal Gear fans, no one equals being a spin-off with being non-canonical, so I do not see a problem here. As for the fans: We can safely assume they know. 141.35.40.137 (talk) 19:03, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
- Didn't notice the lead called it "ninth main." Changing back.Tintor2 (talk) 01:53, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
- Yip, that is all. Thanks, Tantor :) 87.177.94.180 (talk) 11:42, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

I'd like to add to this that an interview with Kojima is making waves recently where he claims Rising is "Platinum's interpretation of what happens after MGS4." [1] "It is the ninth canonical entry in the Metal Gear series [...]" is a bit of a jump to conclusion as opposed to "It is a spin-off of the Metal Gear series [...]" 76.94.195.194 (talk) 14:18, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

Recent resurgence because of memes.
[edit]We need to mention the recent resurgence of this game because of the Jetstream Sam memes. NakhlaMan (talk) 01:51, 24 May 2022 (UTC)
We need a wp:reliable source for that especially since memes are kinda unimportant Tintor2 (talk) 02:28, 24 May 2022 (UTC)
I got one here it is https://www.ign.com/articles/metal-gear-rising-revengeance-memes NakhlaMan (talk) 03:08, 24 May 2022 (UTC)
Also this is important because it pretty much means the game is getting more popular ever because of the memes and I think that is important for the games legacy. And this article proves it. NakhlaMan (talk) 07:38, 24 May 2022 (UTC)
It's more than memes - I'd argue that there should probably be a spinoff article on the soundtrack, at least given sufficient sources. The music & vocal tracks have all been covered an absolute ton and discussed, even ignoring their use in memes. Failing that, extend the current "Music" section.
