Anyone think "notable events" should have pre-2000 events, such as when Richard Petty broke his neck in 1980, Bobby Allison was injured in 1988, and Davey Allison crashed in 1992?

Why not? Michael Greiner 15:18, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good. Feel free to add them.Mustang6172 01:46, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Indy cars

[edit]

Why are all the "notable events" NASCAR-related incidents? What about the 1981 Indy Car race where USAC had to bring in Silver Crown cars to fill out the field because of CART's boycott? I mean even the info box states the track opened in 1974 (when the first NASCAR weekend was held) even though it opened in 1971 for open wheel use. Would anybody obect to my making this a little less NASCAR-centric? I know NASCAR has had the place pretty much to itself since 1989 since the Mattiolis have apparently never heard of paving, but still. Mjj237 03:17, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Go ahead, as long as you cite your sources. --Michael Greiner 03:26, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Michael. As long as you can produce a source for it, you may add whatever you want.Mustang6172 19:33, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

2002 Park/Earnhardt crash

[edit]

Are we sure it was a highway barrier used and not an ARMCO barrier? Mustang6172 01:43, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

SUMMARY BOX, TOP RH GIVES LOCATION OF THE TRACK AS A P.O. BOX - I WOULD REMOVE THAT

[edit]

Why have a P.O. Box shown for the location? That PO Box could be 10 miles from the track.--63.99.25.227 (talk) 20:16, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Frank Kimmel's accident (ARCA)

[edit]

I added on a bit on Kimmel's accident to "Notable Events". A race highlight is on the Speedtv website with a replay of it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.232.140.62 (talk) 05:53, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image problem

[edit]

I'm trying to add this picture from commons, but since it has the same file name as the track's logo image, I only get the logo when I try to add it to the page. How do we resolve this?Mustang6172 (talk) 04:56, 26 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Upload directly to wikipedia under a different file name. The image of the logo on Wikipedia over rules the commons image. --Michael Greiner 00:57, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

shifting gears, no longer needed.

[edit]

"Others refer to Pocono as a modified road course due to the use of shifting gears to handle the range between the slowest curve and the fastest straightaway."

In 2005, NASCAR changed the rear-end gear, which eliminated the need to shift gears at Pocono.

I just noticed this today, myself. I have changed it.Kp.murphy (talk) 16:59, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's still in the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.78.121.162 (talk) 22:44, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wall construction.

[edit]

Watch any race at this track and you can see that some of the concrete barrier walls were poured using the old bent up steel Armco barrier as the outer form. The dirt piled up against the back of the Armco to keep the concrete from leaking out is still there. When were those walls done? They, along with the old and rough paving, give the facility a real run down look. Bizzybody (talk) 06:46, 5 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
