Regarding Phil Collins on Reba's Room To Breathe album [DISCUSSION]

[edit]

I mentioned this to the person who reverted my edits, and now I ask you guys as well. Are you sure he's on the album? I looked on the booklet in the CD case and there's no mention of Phil anywhere, not even as a duet partner. Heck, I don't even remember hearing him singing in the song he's listed with. I only remember Reba singing. Unless they meant backup vocal? But then, how is Phil Collins (I'm assuming the British 80s rock singer and the vocalist in Disney's Tarzan and Disney's Brother Bear is who you're referring to, right?) involved in country music? Sorry, just a little confused is all. Please discuss. If you have proof and evidence to this claim, please post them here as well. Thanks. Hajiru (talk) 19:31, 9 May 2017 (UTC)Hajiru[reply]

That's interesting. However, on my copy of Reba's Room to Breathe album, I don't see Phil mentioned, but on this site he is? That's odd, and confusing indeed. I don't know if you have the same album, but when I read it, I don't see Phil. :/ Hajiru (talk) 19:45, 9 May 2017 (UTC)Hajiru[reply]

I don't have a clue what is correct. I only know what the sources say. But I will say this - back in the 1800's when this song came out, they weren't as big on promoting the "featuring" like they do today. In fact, today, you have a better chance of having a "hit" if there is a "featuring" because you get press from each artist. Kellymoat (talk) 19:52, 9 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

1800s? You realize that this song came out in the 2000's right? Also, I feel like I need a second opinion. Who is the admins of this page if any? I feel like I need to ask them what they think. Also, why whould they add a rock singer to a country album and not even mention him? Also, I never heard Phil sing on the album at all. Hajiru (talk) 20:00, 9 May 2017 (UTC)Hajiru[reply]

For what it's worth, the following sites include Phil Collins as a song writer and as a featured artist:
Allmusic and their credits for the "Room to breathe" album
MusicBrainz and their credits for the song "If I had any sense left at all"

However, the following sites do not include Phil Collins:
BMI and their songwriting credits for "If I had any sense left at all"
→ The public search at Songfile doesn't list Phil Collins as a songwriter for "If I had any sense left at all" either.
(Songfile is a service owned by The Harry Fox Agency LLC as far as I can tell. Unfortunately, you cannot directly link to their search results, so you have to go to their search page and enter the song list yourselves.)

I tend to say that the information provided by BMI beats the information provided by Allmusic or MusicBrainz. You decide. 92.72.88.45 (talk) 14:35, 16 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
