Need elaboration on the wording in this article

"The garbage patch was confirmed in mid-2017, and has been compared to the Great Pacific garbage patch's state in 2007, making the former ten years younger." Can anybody enlignten me of in what sense the the South Pacific garbage patch is 10 years younger than the Great Pacific garbage patch? Thanks. ThomasYehYeh (talk) 02:00, 17 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
