University ratings

[edit]

(I'm posting this to all articles on UK universities as so far discussion hasn't really taken off on Wikipedia:WikiProject Universities.)

There needs to be a broader convention about which university rankings to include in articles. Currently it seems most pages are listing primarily those that show the institution at its best (or worst in a few cases). See Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Universities#University ratings. University status?

[edit]

Is Newport technically a university, or is it part of the University of Wales? Does it award its own degrees? Tsuguya (talk) 07:38, 19 March 2010 (UTC) I agree, This institution is not a University in its own right as it does not award it's own degrees and is a part of a federal body. The article is consequently misleading and could confuse people looking for a full University to study in. FatTaff (talk) 18:47, 28 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The University no longer exists having merged to form another University so the debate is rather moot. However, in its time it had full degree awarding powers and as such was a full University in its own right, albeit part of the larger University of Wales. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.185.142.66 (talk) 11:51, 12 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

"post-92"

[edit]
it was proposed by the Welsh Government that the University of Wales, Newport merge to create a single post-92 university in South East Wales.

What does "post-92" mean here? Marnanel (talk) 14:54, 21 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
