Re: From the UK?

[edit]

Hi BuickCenturyDriver, I'm sorry for this extremely delayed response--I was off Wikipedia for a while and wasn't able to check my talk page messages. As for your question (from March), my name (Tangotango) is indeed from the NATO phonetic alphabet where T = Tango. However, it doesn't have anything to do with any TV programs, or the police :-) Cheers, Tangotango (talk) 13:48, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

TfD nomination of Template:IPsock

Template:IPsock has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for Deletion page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia Talk 18:19, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Hello again,

You have been a help to me in the past with an article I have edited for the band [Still Pending]. The article has been nominated for deletion for the third time! Would you mind visiting View log and entering your opinion? Thanks Stampsations (talk) 22:09, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Jostens

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Jostens, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Jostens. I was shocked that you would designate the McCabe's article for deletion based on notability. McCabe's is the most famous forum for folk music on the West Coast. More than a dozen of the genre's greatest musician's have recorded live albums there. I ask that you consider speedily removing your article for deletion notation.Cbl62 (talk) 01:20, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the support, and taking the time to contribute your opinion in the first place. I'll hopefully see you again in 6 months or so when i reapply :). Ironholds 21:20, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Hey BuickCenturyDriver! I just wanted to give you a friendly heads-up that the team changed its name from the "Devil Rays" to just the "Rays" in November 2007, and the new stadium needs to be approved by the voters here in St. Pete, but I'm not sure if it will pass. Hopefully, it will, but until the vote in November, we can't say it "will" be the new stadium; we can only mention it "may" be. Hopefully, it helps and if you have any questions about it, let me know! Enjoy your day! EaglesFanInTampa 17:19, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Rollback

[edit]

After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback can only be used to revert vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback may be removed at any time.

If you do not want rollback, then contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some information on how to use rollback, you can view this page. I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, just leave me a message on my talk page if you have any questions. Happy editing! Malinaccier (talk) 00:25, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

I reverted your edits

[edit]

Hi, as the title says I reverted your edits on the Template:2008 Tampa Bay Rays season game log, in which you added upcoming games with probable starters. I don't feel that it's a necessary asset to have on the game logs, seeing as it could create problems for inexperienced editors. Also, I just want to reiterate what EaglesFanInTampa told you: they're not the Devil Rays anymore, just the Rays :). If you think I shouldn'tve reverted the edit, let me know on my talk page. Maybe we can reach some kind of consensus. Happy days, phøenixMøurning ( talk/contribs ) 14:25, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

It's okay. If you feel they're not neccessary to the log, I have no problem. –BuickCenturyDriver 16:10, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:ThomBrennaman.JPG and Image:Joe Buck.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:22, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

BuickCenturyDriver, it is with deep awareness of the responsibility conferred by your trust that I am honored to report that in part to your support, my request for adminship passed (87/14/6). VulGarrity

[edit]

I've deleted the article for the AfD that you closed. One reason for advising against non-admins closing such AfDs is the lack of the technical feature to actually delete the article. Best regards, Tikiwont (talk) 12:04, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

Well, I don't have a problem with this closure, but would not have automatically userfied, but rather restored on demand. Basically, I wasn't sure whether you are aware of above linked guideline. Mostly the {{db-afd}} is used if deletion has been forgotten; splitting consensus evaluation and deletion is in general not that productive, but might make more sense for snowball deletes or in the context of admin coaching. --Tikiwont (talk) 12:31, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

En dash removal

[edit]

Please stop removing the en dashes on 2008 New York Mets season because they are being properly used (WP:DASH) in the scores and records. You are being very disruptive to keep changing them back to hyphens. -- bmitchelf?T?F 00:44, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

I didn't remove any dashes, however when I update I copy the table from {{2008 New York Mets season game log}} which has hyphens instead. I also don't see how using hyphens is disruptive since many other team game logs use hyphens, since many editors find it easier to type in the result. –BuickCenturyDriver 02:19, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
Well, then you are removing the dashes when you copy from the other page. The dashes are the correct use, and I have changed it as such on this article. I don't have the time to go through every article, but a bot could probably do that, as it did for many of the hockey articles. -- bmitchelf?T?F 02:25, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
I did copy your version to {{2008 New York Mets season game log}} but it still doesn't explain how using hyphens instead of dashed is disruptive. It would be very time consuming to change all the hyphens to ndashes in the other logs that don't have them. You need an automated bot to do it. –BuickCenturyDriver 10:39, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
I just found it disruptive because I had to change them back to dashes. I still don't understand what the use of that template is, since this year's season articles have the game log on them directly. -- bmitchelfTF 12:01, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
Most of them do, but the 2008 Tampa Bay Devil Rays season uses the template. I would say we could delete the template and just keep the log on the page. –BuickCenturyDriver 02:05, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

The Rays at 81: response

[edit]

This was definitely the priority goal for this year, and what's going on right now has opened up a lot of hoping and wishing for what can happen in these last two months of the season. Notice I said last two months, including postseason play! :D I just wish more people would go to the Trop. It's embarrassing to hear all of the smack talk from ESPN, and Scott Kazmir on Jim Rome is Burning today expressing his disappointment. I feel like I'm letting them down, even though there really is no way for me to go every night since I live in Fruitland Park. Lack of attendance is the one blemish in this season, and I can only pray that it would get 1000% better in October. Tampabay721 (talk) 06:07, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

I have tagged this redirect for deletion, as the baseball player is fairly clearly substantially more notable than a local weatherman. I'm not clear why this move was ever even considered, much less executed. -Dewelar (talk) 07:28, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

The biggest reason is WP:COMMONNAME. Beyond that, it's just unnecessary. The hat note is quite sufficient considering the disparity in notability between the two people. -Dewelar (talk) 07:35, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
Which other redirect? A. J. Burnett? Or something else? Because that will eventually naturally redirect to A. J. Burnett, thus no need to delete it. -Dewelar (talk) 07:39, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
You should have just let it be deleted. Now someone's going to have to do a histmerge on it. I hate making the admins do extra work :) . -Dewelar (talk) 07:41, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
