The size you want of 150 px is too small for me to see on the screen, that size only takes up about 12% the width of the page and makes the info box look too cramped. Also I think 250 px is the agreed standard to use. If not please direct me to where the image sizes have been agreed. I have come across many users who feel the size of 250 px is preferable. --203.94.135.134 22:11, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

can you point me to these editors? under US copyright laws fair use of the image a lower resolution must be used, if so many other people want to hight resolution why does everyone keep reverting you? --Dan027 02:30, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Correction: only a couple of users have reverted me, not everyone.
Right, well OK here are a few editors preferring 250px:

--203.94.135.134 03:33, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, now how many people have reverted/changed the size to less than 150px? --Dan027 07:37, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Two I think, yourself and another anon user: 124.191.20.252. --203.94.135.134 02:28, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:BCE.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:BCE.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 08:03, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Prologuetheartofwar.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Prologuetheartofwar.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. ElinorD (talk) 02:28, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I noticed that you tried to prod the above article. It is not going to fly that way as every tag is simply removed. It needs to go afd to have any chance. If you look at the history, I have tried reason; also there really are no sources and it must be truly NN. I will watch. --Stormbay 14:26, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No problem ill afd it now then. --Dan027 07:47, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The afd notice is gone from the article. I could revert but I'll wait a bit.--Stormbay 17:42, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use problems

[edit]

Hi Dan027,

I read your message to User:Betacommand about fair use problems. I know it's a frustrating problem, but please remain civil. Fair use rationales apply to the use of an image, not the image's content, so saying "this is a fair use image" makes no sense. You need to say "the use of this image in <article> is fair" instead. The easiest way to keep the bots happy is to fill in the blanks in the ready made template. See Template:Non-free use rationale for full instructions. If you're still having difficulty, feel free to send me a message. Thanks Papa November 10:59, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey mate, I see you have gone to town on the south gippsland line route guide. I am now just a bit worried that this is too much info. To keep it standardised with other line articles maybe we should just keep the guide to display stations, branch lines and major rivers. By all means keep the km details in though. If we include every level crossing and minor bridge the thing will end up excessively long, as this one is turning out to be. Just a thought. Nomadtales 01:12, 19 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Sunglasses.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Sunglasses.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 03:48, 9 November 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jusjih 03:48, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
