Alaska photogs
Reposting to work on.. Edited comment:
- Winter and Pond. A short sketch is here. I'm not sure if the Alaska State Library has further information.
- If you're working on other content in that same vein, other important later photographers in Alaska include Steve McCutcheon, Ward W. Wells and Reuel Griffin. I have PD images of Wells himself and various photos he took which were published without copyright notices. I also have a lesser number of PD images taken by the other two. My upload queue is getting kind of ridiculous coincidental with my increasing lack of time. If you have any specific questions about any of this, don't hesitate to do so, even if I may be slow in responding. RadioKAOS / Talk to me, Billy / Transmissions 04:13, 1 November 2018 (UTC)

Hello, I'm Mvcg66b3r. I noticed that you made one or more changes to an article, WJXT, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Mvcg66b3r (talk) 00:14, 2 November 2018 (UTC)
- User:Mvcg66b3r I actually didn't add any content but I did reorganize what someone else added so who her husband is wasn't the first bit noted. You removed her entirely from the article which seems improper since she has her own article and it's well cited. FloridaArmy (talk) 00:24, 2 November 2018 (UTC)
- I see you added her back with a much shortened summary. Seems okay to me. FloridaArmy (talk) 00:53, 2 November 2018 (UTC)

Alaska drafts/articles
Looks like you're working on content about photographers and/or photographic studios. Probably the most important and likely to be overlooked from a century or so ago in Alaska is Winter and Pond. A short sketch is here. I'm not sure if the Alaska State Library has further information, but as far as I know, they hold most of their collection. There's a bunch of their stuff on Commons, courtesy of the person with a fondness for mass uploading and non-useful categorization, but you can find it easily through the search dialog. If you're working on other content in that same vein, other important later photographers in Alaska include Steve McCutcheon, Ward W.
- Okay, thanks very much. I will definitely have a look into those when I get a chance. Working my way through John Nathan Cobb photos at tge moment and I need to grt back to some panoramic mapmakers and other stuff too.. So much still to do out there!!! Finding some fascinating stuff. I thought Murder Cove was interesting and sad.for a variety of reasons. Take care and thanks again. FloridaArmy (talk) 04:18, 1 November 2018 (UTC)
Also, Draft:R. N. Stevens somehow got passed over by my new page patrol tracking page yet appeared in the other tracking page I use to monitor Alaska-related content. U.S. Commissioners are typically not independently notable by that basis alone. It's only because the present-day U.S. district courts use the term "magistrate judge" that people tend to confuse the titles of magistrate and judge, and therefore tend to confuse the differences in notability. A Google search was of no help, only giving me hits about registered nurses named Stevens or practicing in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. The content I see in that draft could easily be incorporated into Nome Gold Rush. Sources say far more about Arthur H. Noyes, the actual judge involved in the corruption mentioned in that draft. He lacks an article, as do many pre-statehood judges. In his case, he basically held a patronage position courtesy of Alexander McKenzie, his judicial tenure was short and I believe he died not long after leaving office. I'm not sure whether I have any relevant sources close at hand right now, but once again I'll be happy to answer questions if need be. - Any idea which street this is in Ketchikan? Strangely the Ketchikan Downtown Historic District doesn't have an entry. FloridaArmy (talk)

User:RadioKAOS I am feeling a little overwhelmed with terminolgy such as lemmer (whaling) for whaling, brail net, and brail lines for uses other than sailing. If I create short explanatioms they won't be allowed as definitions but I'm not that comfortable doing longer articles on these subjects where I am not veru familiar. Do you know any fishing peeps that would be interested in working these subjects up? I've never really understood the definition rule when it comes to something that isn't just a word. An occupation or type of equipment is certainly a notable subject. User:Legacypac maybe you have some insight to offer? FloridaArmy (talk) 02:25, 2 November 2018 (UTC)

About translations
Hi. Usually, plain copy-pastes from other language Wikipedias get speedy deleted under WP:CSD#A2, but you seem interested enough in getting it en-wiki-worthy, therefore I have moved your page to User:FloridaArmy/Yakutat and Southern Railway. As a subpage of your Userspace, you will have all the time to fiddle around with the article until it is ready for Wikipedia's main articlespace. A few tips:
- If you know German: good, start translating.
- If you do not know any German: follow the instructions at WP:TRANSLATETOHERE.
- The en-wiki equivalent of railway diagrams can be found at Template:Routemap.
Happy editing! --HyperGaruda (talk) 19:24, 6 November 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for the message. I tried using the tool linked to on Wikipedia's translation page. I was surprised it didn't include attribution. It also didn't translate the page, but clearly I'm not using it properly.
- I also tried working my way through the translation instruction pages and templates but I was pretty lost. FloridaArmy (talk) 19:47, 6 November 2018 (UTC)
- I just tried out the tool and got confused at first. While I know that the tool is disabled for new editors, I only just found out it also does not provide an automatically generated translation draft anymore. Turns out that the tool can now only be used for correctly translating wikilinks and basic templates; the actual text has to be translated manually. I know some German, so I could do it for you, but you will have to excuse me until the weekend when I'll have more time on my hands. By the way, the railway was correctly called Yakutat and Southern Railroad because it is a United States line and thus follows US English vocabulary. --HyperGaruda (talk) 21:17, 6 November 2018 (UTC)
- Interesting. Yes, I'm not sure which it's called but I've seen "Railway" several places. The German says it was incorporated as railroad and known as railway. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The machine translation seemed pretty decent from what I saw of it. I'd be happy to try and work out any kinks. Definitrly not a rush job so if you're still interested when you have some time that woukd be terrific. FloridaArmy (talk) 21:23, 6 November 2018 (UTC)

SamHolt6 (talk) 06:47, 15 November 2018 (UTC)Speedy deletion nomination of Spanishtown Creek
A tag has been placed on Spanishtown Creek requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from the article namespace to a different namespace except the Category, Template, Wikipedia, Help, or Portal namespaces.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. - The guideline says "College athletes and coaches are notable if they have been the subject of non-trivial media coverage beyond merely a repeating of their statistics, mentions in game summaries, or other WP:ROUTINE coverage." - User:AngusWOOF, while that guideline tells us the criteria for who should be assumed to be notable it doesn't say that someone who was received substantial coverage for being the best high school football player in Ohio, the first University of Cincinatti running back to rush for more than 1,000 yarss in the last 8 years, and who already has the record for most rushing touchdowns in a season at Cincinnati (and among top 5 for career at the school) isn't notable. Common sense also applies. FloridaArmy (talk) 03:27, 18 November 2018 (UTC)
