Hey, Jo-Jo,
Your name hasn't come up but there have been questions about a Deletion Review closure you did at this most recent AFD on the film Pathan. I thought you might want to know about it in case you could clarify what you intended to be done after your closure. Thanks and stay well! Liz Read! Talk! 20:17, 23 February 2022 (UTC)

Hey volcano person!
I have a friend, who is working on his masters. He's wanting to know more about the 1600 eruption of Huaynaputina, he thinks it might be tied to famine in Russia later, which is kinda where he's headed with his thesis. Anything you know of that might be more ... obscure we could point him to? Yes, this is kinda six-degrees-of-Kevin-Bacon but wikipedia style... but hey, when you know someone into volcanoes... Ealdgyth (talk) 19:31, 28 February 2022 (UTC)
- Greetings, Ealdgyth. "Obscure" in the sense of "not involving a country in an ongoing war"? I think 1257 Samalas eruption, 1669 eruption of Mount Etna(someday I was planning to ask you for a review on source usage there. For some reason I think it's actually overusing secondary sources), Mount Okmok's 44BCE eruption, Tofua or Kuwae or whatever caused the 1453 crisis for example. I would love anyone researching the Cerro Blanco (volcano) eruption in 4.2ka but I guess your friend is more interested in the societal effects rather than the climatological ones. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 19:56, 28 February 2022 (UTC)
- He's interested in enviromental stuff as it impacts history. I should point out that he's going for a masters in history ("world history" to be specific .. heh). So he's going to be going in that direction, rather than into science. Ealdgyth (talk) 20:25, 28 February 2022 (UTC)
- Exactly what I guessed and thus my selection of volcano articles - all of these are suspected or proven to have impacted history. If your friend is interested in history farther back, African humid period may be another thing to consider. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 21:15, 28 February 2022 (UTC)

Promotion of Lake Estancia
Erik Laykin
You recently removed the temlpate for speedy deletion of Erik Laykin. In your description, you wrote "not spam". The cause for speedy deletion wasn't that this it is spam--it is "because in its current form it serves only to promote or publicise an entity, person, product, or idea, and would require a fundamental rewrite in order to become encyclopedic." User:Laykin is the main contributor of the article and likely the subject writing about himself. Could you please explain your rationale for removing the template? Thanks. Shoestringnomad (talk) 12:49, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
- The article currently states what jobs this guy had or has. That's not promotion [which is often synonymous with "spam", hence my edit summary], most biographies on Wikipedia give this kind of information. And I don't remember a consensus that an autobiography automatically qualifies as WP:CSD#G11 material. Speedy deletion only applies in clear cut cases and this one is a long way from being one. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 12:54, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
Why my page of tryst IITD was deleted
I have made that page 5-6 times and everytime it is getting deleted for some reason. Last time it said it is promoting but there was nothing like that. My college(IIT Delhi) is organising tech fest for which i am creating a wiki page. IIT Bombay has similar techfest Page but it is there without any problem and out page (Tryst IITD) is getting deleted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Snehil4 (talk • contribs) 15:43, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
- Because you keep writing it like an ad. E.g
With a foot fall of more than 60,000 in the previous edition, TRYST has been one of the prominent events around the country for young minds to showcase their talents in the fields of science and innovation while at the same time Explore the latest developments in these areas.
is a bunch of unobjective praise. We only accept articles that are written in a neutral fashion. IIT Bombay is much more neutrally written.Incidentally, I see you have only created the page twice. Are you the same person as User:Tryst IITD? Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 15:49, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
Yes and I Made 4-5 other IDs too but it is not accepting it. Now do I Have to make the whole page again or is there any way we can get that page without those promotional lines. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Snehil4 (talk • contribs) 15:54, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
- Well, first it helps to come clear on the other IDs - we do not like it when you make more than one identity. You'll need to write up a page that dispassionately describes the topic, and without any copypasting. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 15:57, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
Well, see You have mentioned This article contains content that is written like an advertisement. Please help improve it by removing promotional content and inappropriate external links, and by adding encyclopedic content written from a neutral point of view. (August 2021) (Learn how and when to remove this template message) On IIT Bombay's page also but their page is functional so please at least make our page public and then we can change whatever is necessary. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Snehil4 (talk • contribs) 16:01, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
- That page doesn't have a problem as severe as yours. Also, you ought to reply to the concerns raised at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Tryst IITD - as I said above making multiple IDs is generally not OK at all. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 16:03, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
Please tell me What should I do now because I am on a deadline. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Snehil4 (talk • contribs) 16:07, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
- A couple of things: a) Go to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Tryst IITD and tell us what other identities you had, and follow the advice there. b) If and when that is resolved, you ought to try an article that neutrally describes what the festival is, without all the glowing language. c) If that doesn't work, tell whoever is making the deadline that what they are asking for isn't allowed here. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 16:10, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
Can I show the article to you before uploading on Wikipedia next time? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Snehil4 (talk • contribs) 16:17, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
- I think it would be better if you went to WP:AFC there. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 16:26, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
Why is no one replying anything on Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Tryst IITD — Preceding unsigned comment added by Snehil4 (talk • contribs) 16:28, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
Coropuna scheduled for TFA
This is to let you know that the Coropuna article has been scheduled as today's featured article for April 1, 2022. Please check the article needs no amendments. If you're interested in editing the main page text, you're welcome to do so at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/April 1, 2022, but note that a coordinator will trim the lead to around 1000 characters anyway, so you aren't obliged to do so.
For Featured Articles promoted recently, there will be an existing blurb linked from the FAC talk page, which is likely to be transferred to the TFA page by a coordinator at some point.
We suggest that you watchlist Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors from the day before this appears on Main Page. Thanks! Jimfbleak - talk to me? 10:22, 4 March 2022 (UTC)

Thank you today for Pali-Aike volcanic field, introduced: "article is about a volcanic field in southernmost Argentina and Chile, which was active until the last few thousands of years. It features numerous lakes - including Laguna Potrok Aike where paleoclimatic research has been carried out - and caves, which were inhabited by the earliest people of the region. Editorial note: I've been sparing with archeological and paleoclimatological details in this article as it's mainly about the volcanic aspects."! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:55, 18 March 2022 (UTC)
Cirrus cloud
Hey Jo-Jo, I saw your comment on the cirrus cloud FAR, and I've seen a number of your earth sciences-related articles in GAN. I was wondering if you would be willing to give me a hand with the prose on the cirrus cloud article, since that seems to be the main sticking point for the FAR, and it is also the part with which I struggle most. (I'm an engineer, not a writer by trade. :) I've done a couple passes based on feedback in the FAR and am hoping to get an extra pair of eyes on it to give me a hand. Cheers! Hello, Jo-Jo,
This page is showing up in our Speedy Deletion categories as if has been tagged for deletion. But I'm guessing it is not supposed to be deleted? I saw you edited the page and so I hope you know of a way to remove the tagging or, if the page should be deleted, you can delete as an admin action. Thanks for any help clearing up the confusion. Liz Read! Talk! 22:12, 21 March 2022 (UTC)
- Actually, I didn't understand why that happens. I think it might be a problem with the transcluded templates on the db-movedab page. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 11:16, 22 March 2022 (UTC)
Internet Archive Scholar vs. JSTOR
Hello, I see on your user page that you use JSTOR and I'd like to know more about your experience. By my calculations, a good 70 % of the main JSTOR content is now available for everyone at Internet Archive Scholar, with full text search provided e.g. at https://scholar.archive.org/ . The service is still in beta, but I've used it for some source-finding and it seems quite usable to me; I wonder whether that's just my experience. If you have a chance, the next time you'd be looking for a source on Google Scholar or JSTOR or similar, to perform the same search on IA scholar instead, I'd be curious to hear how it ends up. Thanks, Nemo 19:07, 22 March 2022 (UTC)

Thank you today for Coropuna, "about the highest volcano in Peru, which currently happens to host the largest ice cap of the tropics even though it is retreating like most ice bodies of the world. The volcano itself began forming during the Miocene or Pliocene but activity continued until recent times; two or three eruptions occurred within the last 10,000 years. Aside from its geological and climatological importance, Coropuna was also a holy site of the Inka, which dedicated two archeological sites to it."! --

Drafts and G4
Hi! Re your declined speedy of Draft:Temitope Ogunsemo, I was under the impression that the mention of drafts in the criteria is to prevent a situation where an article that has been userfied,or draftified, ends up being tagged for G4. Looking at my CSD log I count 29 occasions when drafts I've tagged as G4 have been deleted? In this particular example it seems that the draft has simply been copy-and-pasted into a new draft (complete with the notability tag!) Did it look like a 'sufficiently identical; copy to you? Not being able to see the deleted article, I couldn't tell for sure. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 16:37, 8 April 2022 (UTC)
- Sometimes people copy articles into draft space for improvement. I don't think it's straightforward to say that such a draft is a repost for the purpose of G4. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 17:24, 8 April 2022 (UTC)
