Redundant and superfluous Dion singles category boxes

You are putting French singles category boxes on singles which were not recorded in the French language. One, "Unison", did not even chart in France. This information is superfluous to the articles of songs which are not in French. The opposite is true as well: English singles category boxes do not belong on singles which were recorded in French (unless there were both English and French versions released as singles and the article addresses both versions). Additionally, the English singles and French singles category boxes you have been adding all link to the exact same article in the exact same place, the top of Dion's singles discography, which includes both her English and French singles. Please remove the French category boxes from the English-language singles and the English category boxes from the French-language singles. Abrazame (talk) 04:43, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Daydream (Mariah Carey album)

I requested the article peer review, and a experienced user said that nothing with new revision was wrong. Anyway, I will try to push it to GA and then we will see if the article misses something. Regards, Sparks Fly 14:53, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Wow! So you did the same as me, I started to work Daydream because I saw that no one works in Carey's article. And, no problem to me, let's resolve it in a good way.
1. Here in wikipedia, we do not talk about realistic and yes reliability. In my opinion, the London Paper source is a better reliable source than the Tickets Specialists source. So, the former should be included instead the latter.
2. Sorry, that was my mistake, already fixed.
3. Before anything, I need to mention that is recommend to add informations about Carey's previous releases.. (You can check it in the Thriller (album) article, which is a Featured Article)
If you think that Undercover is not a good source to put it, you need to provide one better. The case is that Undercover is not a unreliable source, the problem is that, to date, there are no "reliabler" sources stating otherwise. About Merry Christmas, you can check that the article/the site do not states that it is the best selling but the most successful, and sorry, but FOX News is one of the most trustful sources in the world.
4. Not because something is not in the Wikipedia, it means that it's not true or it's not exists — I didn't said that. However, you have to understand that everything in wikipedia needs to be sourced (with some exceptions which not includes certifications and peak position), even the things that are true and everyone knows. The links that you provided to peak position and certifications don't show exactly what they should do. Look, you only provided the link for the current chart, and the methodology of certifications. =S
I really hope we can reach a consensus, otherwise I will have to kill you. Thanks, Sparks Fly 00:06, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
Let's go again.
1. Resolved
2. Resolved
3. I don't know what really Fox News means, but you need to know that the site is one the most reliable considered.
I think that I get your point. And what you said—It's not about finding article saying something and put it here in Wikipedia—is actually true, but, in fact, the right point is finding reliable article saying something and put it here in Wikipedia. Look, if they are reliable, they are trustful, and if they are trustful they can go in Wikipedia, there's no a big discussion with that. OK, maybe they are wrong, everybody makes mistake, but we need a bigger reliable thing to prove that it was wrong. Unfortunately, I think that your opinion—with your calculations, estimations and others—is not that.
4. Sorry, but we need direct links, since we can't know if there's the album in the database, and also there's a lot of them which don't even have databases to search.
I reverted again, we still need to discuss. Sparks Fly 17:36, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
I reverted other things, sorry if I didn't pointed. Let's see:
  • The right dash used is the em dash (—) no the hyphen (-).
  • The track listing could be in this way, no problem, wikipedia also allows this and no experienced user pointed any problem when I request peer review.
  • The London Paper is a reliable source, sorry if you think/estims that the album don't sold that much, but that's no problem with stating this with this source.
If there's other things that I am reverting, point me please.
Let's go to the other points.
3. Again, I'm not saying that this album is the best selling but the most successful, I don't know in what way Fox News has it, but no problem with us putting this.
4. As you said, most of the peaks and certifications can be find in the given links, please, you have to understand that it's not works with most but yes with all. Since you can not agree that peak positions are not needed, I will check every source to see if it really works, instead I will have to delete. We will see that the certification table will be like in my previous table. And please, format all the refs like this {{cite web | title= | url= | work= | publisher= | date= | accessdate=2009-05-12}} to us keep with a consistency.
Here we go again. Sparks Fly 16:55, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Thanks

I realized that in my recent edit of mariah carey the remixes i did not back up the statement saying one of the best selling rexim albums so i added the source saying it.--Aldamira (talk) 08:48, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

The Mariah Carey mess

Hi, could you protect the Mariah Carey discography article as you did today to few of her albums pages? The reason is the same as was on the Mariah Carey mess discussion. Celine's signings

I have reworked Celine Dion's infobox labels entry so that it can be more precise/historically significant- also meeting wp:albums guidelines for labels. Please provide me some input. Imperatore (talk) 15:54, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

To this day with the latest release, taking chances, the owner/copyright holder of all of Celine's discography is Sony Music Canada- (P) and (C), even though epic and now columbia in NYC is where she is signed to produce recordings. For now, Celine's infobox says "CBS Records Canada (1986–1990)", but since her discography owner/copyright holder is still Sony Canada, should I change this to Sony Music Canada (1986-present)? Removed speedy deletion tag: I Surrender (Celione Dion song)

Hi Max24! I just wanted to inform you that I removed the speedy deletion tag you placed on I Surrender (Celione Dion song)- because: I realize you are an expert on the subject, and would know whether the single is notable or not. However, speedy deletion criterion A9 is not for singles by a notable artist. If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me. decltype (talk) 12:44, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

After having redirected the song to the album, I realized that the title was misspelled. As such, it was useless as a redirect, and I deleted it anyway. Regards, decltype (talk) 12:50, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

Petergriffin9901

That's the main reason I put him on a 0RR restriction. My hope was that if he was placed in a position where he had to argue for his changes on talk pages, he'd get better. He has gotten better, but I agree that he hasn't gotten better enough and that his biases show. Hopefully, the next 60 days (his restrictions were extended from his last problem) will be enough for him to get the rest of the way better. I agree that the Just Whitney edit was problematic, and I have started a discussion with him over it.—Kww(talk) 01:21, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Celine Dion

Back at this same problem Max, I have told you before my edits are not to discredit Celine, when someone inflates any charts including Mariah's I revert along with Jay008. Secondly perhaps some of the charts may have changed, however for example, in "A New Day Has Come" it is certified Platinum in the UK, which is 300,000, something that has not changed, cannot say 500,000 without a source. I need you to understand that any other chart that I changed was from not realizing the changes such as Frances old criterion. And I wouldn't try and pass that your not as obsessed with Celine, considering you've made over 808 edits to Taking Chances. I appreciate your offer of help, and would like to start over with you, and work together. I'll take your offer and will make sure to keep in mind your area of expertise is in Charts/Certifications. Thank You.--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 12:19, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

I actually have a question I was wondering if you could help me with. I am going to be reviewing many charts in the future and was wondering if you could list me only the countries and changes that have changed their certifications. For example Canada I know to have been 100,000 Platinum and now is 80,000 and France as you said was 300,000 and now 100,000. With that we can be sure the mistake won't happen again.--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 12:23, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

I agree Peter Griffin lowers Mariah's sales when appropriate, I went through all Mariah articles for example Butterfly was sourced as Gold with 250,000 in the UK, now Gold in the UK is 100,000 you can't just assume sales with certifications you must put 100,000 unless a separate source is found, this being the same with Celine Dion, I fully support Peter Griffin's decision to that to the Celine Dion articles, if you revert his edits, I'm sure it qualifies as vandalism and admin would give you a warning. Jayy008 (talk) 14:09, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

No, I disagree, all of Mariah Carey's album are not inflate anymore, thanks to me, I went through when I first started and lowered all of hers because they was too grown, there's nothing I hate more than fake sales, pretending the artist is doing better than they are. I'm guessing the reason why he removed the 200,000,000 sales with a Sony source is because a recent discussion said they exxagerate as they did with Carey, so it was removed for Carey. You are vandalising, I've just reviewed Dion's first album where the Riaa certified it, which must be stated as 1,000,000 not 1,300,000 YOU keep changing it and reverting the users good faith edits, since you have made this an issue, I am going to go through all the Celine Dion article as deflate them, match them to their certifications like a good editor as I did with Mariah Carey, I will follow Celine Dion with Whitney Houston. Jayy008 (talk) 17:59, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

Maybe in four years things chance, on Wikipedia everything must be verified, you have been reported and I will await an admins response on the matter rather than continuous edit warring on articles. Jayy008 (talk) 18:31, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

Also, can I ask because usually this question gets ignored by IP's who do this, what would the artist gain from a fan rising their sales on Wikipedia? It just created a false account. Also there is no section in the link or on the RIAA website that says "chart success" Jayy008 (talk) 18:36, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
Then tell me where the "chart success" section is on the Riaa website? and all the french certifications listed are dead links! Jayy008 (talk) 19:52, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
Well if you can find the information, then I won't delete it, if you can't then I will it's simple. and in the chart success section it should have been cited how it is now, with refs in the charts section and the chart success. Jayy008 (talk) 20:20, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
Nope, it's fine I will not edit then, they're too messy, too inflated and too badly sourced, it would take me about 50 years to fix her album, when I said I'd go through earlier, I didn't think they was so bad, all the references are badly done with no retrieval date, and every single chart column has "Should be certified 3x Platinum" or something, which doesn't exist in the music industry, it's either certified or it's not. Also as an act of good faith I've retracted my request for the admin to review your edits as I was hasty. Thank you. Jayy008 (talk) 20:28, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

Celine Dion albums discography

It does not matter which her main market is, the fact of the matter is Dion has sold more in the US that any other country in the world. For example out of Dion's top sellers Falling into you and Let's Talk About Love both selling in the low 30's Million range, and each sold over 10M in US sales alone, well that's a third of her sales Max, obviously the US is a very important market for her. And there is only an issue with sales regarding to Madonna because she has albums, such as her biggest seller The Immaculate Collection before 91 when Nielsen began. As we know Carey loses around 5M in sales because of it, and Dion loses almost none, because her debut, which already opened to weak sales was released only 6 months before the SoundScan launch, not making enough of an exception to not include in the article. If Unison was only certified Platinum and Billboard has declared 1.2M copies sold, you can be sure it didn't sell much more. For that reason I will consult about this edit, and see which deemed acceptable. And keep telling you Max, it doesn't matter how many weeks or months it took you, you don't own these articles, they are free for anyone to edit, and my edits happen to be sourced and good faith. It shouldn't be removed because you don't like the look or because it doesn't look as favorable to Dion. This website is about truth and reliability, not what Max24 thinks looks nice or makes Dion special.--PeterGriffin TalkCont. 11:00, 19 March 2010 (UTC)

Infodisc

Oh really, you know what Max, your new findings sound concrete (sarcasm), except the fact that I don't edit edit Celine's French albums, except D'eux, because I find her to have too many (like 40) albums to fix and take care of. The only reason I edited them to begin with is because I came across the source while looking for other info. If you have a problem with one of my edits, that's fine, however next time you just accuse me of a fruitless attempt to ban me, I'll just ignore your post.--PeterGriffin TalkCont. 18:16, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

And this just goes to show you Max, you are exactly what you accuse me of. You only make changes that Benefit Celine Dion. Even though you seem to think 8notes is reliable (it's not), and it lists All of her album sales, you only replaced it with certain albums, certainly not ones that reduce her current sales. This shows your dishonest, because in addition I already told you before that 2 sources that contradict can't be used in the same article. However we allowed it because Ticketspecialists didn't have all her albums and neither did superPics. Now however we have a source that You find reliable that lists All her albums, and you still won't replace it so not to hurt her sales. My examples, the ones you didn't change in her discography. Celine Dion the source says 5M, yet you left 5.5M, because that's what YOU believe it sold, and didn't change the source either. Next D'eux, the source says 8M, yet you didn't change the figures, because you want it to stay at 9M, because that's what you believe. These are special Times says 15M even though the source You picked which lists all her albums says 13.5M, why, because you don't want to hurt her sales, even though they are NOT true. Either way 8notes & superpics are NOT reliable so they will be soon removed.--PeterGriffin TalkCont. 18:40, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

I can do whatever I please on my page, either way you can always see it by comparing versions. Take care of your own talk page.--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 22:43, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

The Emancipation of Mimi

I'm sorry, but who are you to decide that? Seriously, I write it how it is on the RIAA website. American certifications of above platinum are Multi-Platinum. Not 6x Platinum. For other countries however, yes! Jayy008 (talk) 22:47, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

Another thing, please read Wikipedia:GOODCHARTS InfoDisc is a valid source for French certifications. ChartsPlus is also licensed for subscribers of the site, it gets certifications before the BPI updates them for the public. Please stop making policy and actually read up on things. Jayy008 (talk) 23:05, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

That was my fault with the Ballads, I called it Gold when I should say 100,000+. If you look at all albums released in 2008 on that page and their certifications, you'll see some of them certified Gold when The Ballads is higher on the list of biggest selling albums, which means it sold 100,000 or more. I take full responsibility, I shouldn't have called it Gold I should have said 100,000 or more. I will however revert all of your edits on the InfoDisc, and if you make them again I will report you. All sales are estimates Max, ALL sales, you can never have a clear approximation because not all shops and retailers have always been taken into account, but since it says estime I will put a note saying "sales estimatation", if the website is valid, then everything on there is valid, if something is on Wikipedia:GOODCHART, you know, where you go to find out what is allowed and what isn't? Then I will use it. Jayy008 (talk) 15:51, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
Also, if you have a problem with my edits, report me to an admin, not IKnow23, he's not an admin and can not issue me with blocks. Jayy008 (talk) 16:02, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
One more thing, you don't make policy, if you have a problem with me using sources from Wikipedia:Record charts then bring it up for discussion, unless it says on that page that you shouldn't used the sales from InfoDisc then I will continue to use them. Jayy008 (talk) 16:06, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

Discussion

Please "voice" your opinion in form of agree or disagree please if it's resolved there won't even be a sales box, but in the prose I will put "estimated French sales are etc" if you have a problem with that PLEASE bring it up for discussion Jayy008 (talk) 16:09, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

All I Want for Christmas is You

You have the wrong info Max, I've got here the official RIAA listings, and it's certified 2x Platinum as a Single, it was certified that only around 3 months ago:

Okay, I changed it back--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 22:38, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

Celine Dion singles discography

Hey Max, I need your help with something. Many of Celine's singles are certified in more countries than columned in her disco. I'd like to add them so it would look like Mariah Carey's singles disco as here. I'd like this because there are many more countries I've found certs for her singles. As your good with charts please help me format the charts to allow more countries. Thanks--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 22:43, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

Guidelines

So I know you don't like following guidelines only using them to make Celine the Queen, but there is no rules or regulations surrounding "not using a ringtone certification" not anywhere. Please don't revert things on what you think should be included, Ericorbit will decide if both should be included or one or the other not you. You are not an admin and you don't get to decide policy. End of. Jayy008 (talk) 00:39, 25 March 2010 (UTC)

What difference does it make? The sold has sold over 2.5 million copies (whichever formats). I will include the highest certification (general guidelines) of any format unless there's a rule saying otherwise. Simple. Jayy008 (talk) 00:52, 25 March 2010 (UTC)

If you're going to get smart with me, don't bother trying to resolve, wait for Eric. As I said above "I will include the highest certification for the song (general guidelines) of any format unless there's a rule saying otherwise. " quite simple really. Jayy008 (talk) 01:12, 25 March 2010 (UTC)

Curiosity

Can I asked why you lied to Eo? I mean, it's obviousy when I first started I vandalised, by mistake because I had no idea what guidelines were. But I have never inflated sales, when there was a big debate on Carey's article about whether to include the 200M sales or 175m I backed the 175 because it was obviously the former was exaggerated. Since when have you seen me inflate or vandalise Carey's pages? Lieing will not win your argument! Jayy008 (talk) 17:55, 25 March 2010 (UTC)

? Jayy008 (talk) 23:53, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

First of all, here you are again inventing your own policies. There is nothing on that page that says I can't give you a warning for Adding FAKE and NOT RELIABLE information. Your a fake and inventing your own policies. PS: weren't you the one who said you can't remove warnings from your talk page, even if they are unjustified? As I thought, your a hypocrite as well.--PeterGriffinTalk 15:10, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
Please do not post on my talk page about something, I didn't ask your opinion on, unless you're going to reply to things I actually want you to reply, I want you to reply to the point of why did you lie to an admin and say I was inflating sales? Jayy008 (talk) 15:40, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

LOL, and that means I "always inflate Mariah Carey sales" seriously. That isn't even inflating, I, did that because of you look on the talk page, there was a debate about what is reliable for the albums' worldwide, and I saw the Universal Korea link, so I pasted that straight to the article, admitidley I should have checked it, but I assumed it would be reliable, my mistake, however, PeterGriffin who you also accuse of this, removed it. RFC

Here's the thing Max, I don't believe warnings should be given unless the user is unknown or an anonymous IP. Otherwise i think the problem should be resolved with calm discussion. If the problem persists and turns into vandalism. I would have never given you a warning for Japan, had you not given me one for the discography. I would have removed it or spoke to you about it via talk page. However you chose the more belligerent road, so i followed. The thing is Jay's warning to me was a mistake and unjustified and he has noticed it. The one I left you was not, as you placed false and fake information. As you see I did not remove your, even though I don't think is was necessary, just because it's not completely unjustified.--PeterGriffinTalk 13:12, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Mariah Carey singles discography

Hey Max, I was wondering if I can ask you a small favor. I believe you mentioned to Kww that you owned some books and pamphlets or journals on some countries certifications. For example on Celine Dion's single discography, you placed some book sources, of three which I can quote.

  1. Australian Chart Book 1993-2005 isbn=0646458892- For Australian certs from before 1997
  2. The Complete New Zealand Music Charts 1966-2006 isbn=978-1-877443-00-8- For properly sourced New Zealand certs.
  3. Ultratop 1995-2005 isbn=90-5720-232-8- For Belgium certs.

After you mentioned these books I searched for them in a few libraries in order to add them to Mariah's discography. Unfortunately, I have not been able to track down any of these books. If possible I'd like to ask you to add these 3 sources and whatever cert they hold for Mariah, like the single certs for her before 97 in Australia, and her New Zealand and Belgium certs for her singles. Since you own or have access to these books/pamphlets, I was wondering if you can add them to the article, as you did to Celine's. Thanks Max, I'd appreciate it if you can!:D--PeterGriffinTalk 05:22, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

Hey Max, Thanks allot anyway, I guess I'll just keep trying to find those books online. I appreciate it though, thanks!:D--PeterGriffinTalk 17:49, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

Falling Into You/Let's Talk About Love

Hello Max, Iv'e been looking into working on Celine Dion chart certification, however Iv'e come across a problem. For these two albums many countries use a source that doesn't support the claim as a reference. For "Falling Into You" the countries 1. Danish Chart 2. Hong Kong Chart 3. Indonesian Chart 4. Italian Chart 5. Malaysian Chart 6. Philippines Chart 7. Portuguese Chart 8. Singapore Chart 9. South Korean Chart 10. Spanish Chart 11. Taiwan Chart 12. Thailand Chart. These 12 Countries certifications are all sourced by this weird forum.

"Let's Talk About love" has the same problem, regarding these countries. 1. Brazil 2. Central America 3. Chile 4. Columbia 5. Czech Republic 6. Danish Charts 7. Greece 8. Hong Kong 9. India 10. Indonesia 11. Islandia 12. Israel 13. Malaysia 14. Mexico 15. Philippines 16. Singapore 17. South Africa 18. South Korea 19. Taiwan 20. Thailand 21. Turkey.

As you see, many countries are using this forum, which doesn't even mention anything about their certifications. I would like to improve her charts as I already did with Mariah Carey, however I'd prefer to wait until all the countries are properly sourced. Can you source all these? Thanks Max.--PeterGriffinTalk 16:18, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

Hello Max, I have registered on the site...:)
Can you tell me how to find this page once I have registered? Thanks...:)--PeterGriffinTalk 05:32, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
Ok so Iv'e looked at the article, and the certifications look in order, however I still have a question. How do we know that these are even real certifications or album charts? I mean if you look at the left side of the column, you'll see Columbian, Chilean, Czech Republic album charts, and non are sourced. How do we know those are even real album charts, considering they are not sourced by an official reference.--PeterGriffinTalk 17:49, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

That's not what I mean. Heres my example, we have "German Album Charts" with this source in the left side of the chart. That's how we know it's an actual album chart or system. Here we have again for the, "Italian Album Chart" with this source, which is the official album charts for Italy. Then we have for example, "Malaysian Album Charts", without any link to the countries official album charts, making it hard to know if it's even a real system. I understand the part about saying, Chile Platinum, Columbia Platinum, but how do we know "Chilean Album Charts" is real, if that album chart isn't sourced?--PeterGriffinTalk 00:16, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

Lol, you read my mind Max, that is pretty much what I was planning to do myself, once I understood your side on the certifications. Take a look after, and maybe you'd like to add some to it--PeterGriffinTalk 04:50, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
Ok, take a look at the work I did in these two articles. They actually came out pretty nicely, as I eventually intend to make the transition to all her albums. What do you think?--PeterGriffinTalk 05:54, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

Well I actually thought it looked better with the provider next to it, but I don't really mind. Thanks for the help, and I'll eventually start changing them in her other album pages...:)--PeterGriffinTalk 14:31, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Celine autour du monde.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Celine autour du monde.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 16:31, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

Celine Dion

Hello Max. I happen to agree with you on that, however I ran into trouble over it some time ago after trying to remove a such sentence on Carey's page. Where it says about being the "Third best-selling on the RIAA shipments" it says (behind Madonna and Barbra). I didn't agree that it should be there, as it is Carey's page and they should place that info on the other artists given page. I actually had a long discussion over it on the talk page. I let it go in the end, but I do agree with you.

As to your suggestion, I don't think its best for the following reasons. There are various reliable websites that site both Carey and Dion's sales at 175M or 200M, and many that claim them both to be the "Best-selling female artist of all time". Being so the other should not be mentioned on the artists particular page, as it is widely debated.--PeterGriffinTalk 22:08, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

Merry Christmas

First of all your mistaken Max. Billboard does not list Carey's holiday album at 11 million sales, it lists it at 12. Carey's website lists it at 11. Secondly, in that page there is a section where it lists the best-selling of all time. You have no proof or hard evidence or anything, your just making claims. I have a reliable source claiming something, that it all.--PeterGriffinTalk 23:46, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

I fixed all the problems you outlined and more. So please be fair and just and re-assess your opinion. If you fix the issues I would indeed change my opinion on your page as well, as I wrote.--PeterGriffinTalk2Me 01:36, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

If I were to act fairly to your FLC, like I originally intended, would you do the same to mine? Or leave me hanging?--PeterGriffinTalk2Me 17:57, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
Hi, please check back at the page for further comments :)--PeterGriffinTalk2Me 23:15, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
Hey Max, so thanks for your help. I really don't know where you find some of these things but thank you! I think I fixed everything, so please take a look and re-assess you opinion.--PeterGriffinTalk2Me 03:08, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
Hehehe, I'm starting to wonder that myself! Either that or you have connections at the ARIA and CRIA ;). Anyway, thanks for the help and I now believe everything to have been solved. :)--PeterGriffinTalk2Me 00:02, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi, so I guess it is a live album, I mean the whole album was recorded at a live show, so yea I guess. I agree sorta, I'll change it.--PeterGriffinTalk2Me 18:51, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
Fixed--PeterGriffinTalk2Me 19:06, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

Thanks Max, I will change that as well. Can you do me a favor? Now that you support, can you change the bold Oppose to Support, simply because I fear your change of decision will go by unnoticed. Thank you :)--PeterGriffinTalk2Me 19:50, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

Thank you Max :). I was wondering if you could answer a question. I heard a Celine Dion audio (I have on my Ipod) of her singing "Everything I Do (I Do It For You)" I'm guessing alongside Bryan Adams. Do you know what year and TV show it was on? Judging from her vocals, I would say its for sure after 1996-97, probably 98-99 or so. Thanks!--PeterGriffinTalk2Me 20:17, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
Aha! Thank you, I knew it was around there. With Celine, Whitney and Mariah I can tell pretty accurately what year from their voice. There is a change in almost every year :)--PeterGriffinTalk2Me 20:32, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
Lol, well I'm always open to and interested in new information! :). That would be great.--PeterGriffinTalk2Me 20:42, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

Mariah in Japan

Wow! Thanks Max, thats really cool. Is that source able to include in an article? Also, are those sales from Oricon or Billboard/Shimbun, because Oricon sales are lower for some reason. #1's was listed by Billboard as having sold 3.25 in Japan (1M the first week) only 3 months after its release. However, Oricon lists the sales at only 2.8 million. I'm looking for Billboard/Shimbun sales, which I have for a few of the albums, (check the discography) but not for some :(. Also, I thought Mariah Carey was certified the "Million Award"? Thats what you posted on my talk page like 6 months ago. Thanks Max this info is really cool!--PeterGriffinTalk2Me 21:09, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

Thanks Max, this is really interesting and good info! I'm really surprised at how detailed it is!. But yes, the sales match Oricon, as "Music Box" is listed by Oricon as having sold 1.58 million.--PeterGriffinTalk2Me 21:41, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
Hehehe, well I guess its our history that leads people to believe that. And also, no matter what you think, I also really like Celine, shes my second fave :D. Thanks you for all this information Max! This is really cool, I have no clue how the heck you find all this stuff! lol. What are Celines Oricon sales for "All The Way"? I know its certified 2x Million, but I doubt the sales reach that. Anyways, thank you for your help in the FLC and the Japanese sales, I'm starting to think your from Japan not Poland :p. When you nominate the singles discography, I'll take a look and if its good (it looks good already!) I'll glady suppoert! :)--PeterGriffinTalk2Me 23:12, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
Hiya Max. Wow, where dd you get all this information from? Is it available for Wikipedia use? Also, yes I see they are Oricon sales, becaus Billboard/Shimbun clamed #1's sales at over 3.25 million coopies after only 3 months after its release. Look here you will see them announcing #1's as the best-selling international album ever (beat the bodyguard) only 3 months after its release. This being so, I wonder how much the sales are now according to Billboard, I guess they must be about 4 million. Do you know how to find the Billboard/Shimun sales of any of her albums, specifically "Butterfly"? Because I imagine then the sales must be like 1.5 million. As you see I have Billboard sales on like 4 of her albums, even thouigh they are from like 94-95 :(. Did you eever find worldwide sales for Rainbow or Butterfly? I have tried to find reliable ones for a whhile and never were able. Judgin from available certifications, "Butterfly: has 5m in US, 1M in Europe, 1m in Japan and another 1m in other territoriues (canda, aus etc.) SO if they certifications equal 8M+, the sales must be around 13-15 ish. Doing the same thing, Rainbows equal around 10. ANyway, thanks for the information Max, its really informative!! Have you ever seen Celine or Mariah in concert? I saw Mariah last year and would love to see Celine, maybe I'll see her in Vegas soon :D--PeterGriffinTalk2Me 23:59, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
Hey. Oh I got you, well that sucks, but its very cool info to have :). Yes that is true, Aside from Mariah, Celine and Michael, no other western artist has been able to achieve such a high level of success in Japan, Korea and all of Asia. Thats really cool! I went to see Mariah with my mom lol, I started telling her about it like a year before hehehe. I would love to see Celine, her shows are so pleasant and professional! I wanna def go see her in Vegas, because if I wait for tour, it will be in a large clunky arena! I would rather an intimate theatre :). Yes Mariah never toured so much, hence she never went to Poland :s. I saw Celines "Through The Eyes of The World" and it was so cute, I really liked that one! Yep those sources are on MariahDaily, its a shame we dont have more of that, because those sales are really outdated. "Music Box"s certifications equal more than 25 million! I can't wait for a new Celine album, I hope she records it before the shows, because her voice is fresh now, if she waits it wiill sound more tired. I heard she worked with a lot of classical composers like AR Rahman, so I cant wait for that! Ive already started listening to "Merry Christmas" and "These Are Special Times", they are the only Christmas albumms I have lol, I would NEVER purchase Whitney's Horrendous holiday album LOL.
Yes, I really like "Oh Santa" its really cute and fun, its obviously not AIWFCIY, but its really festive, I cant wait for the big ballads and classsical covers! :D--PeterGriffinTalk2Me 00:19, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

MC FLC

Hi Max, I fixed everything. Check back. Thanks :)--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 22:48, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

Hiya Max, so I finished almost everything. I no joke, re-organized all the references, so each country is together, kinda like you did on Celine's. The only things I could not find anywhere where Hot 100 and R&B peaks for these songs
  • "When You Believe"
  • "What Would You Do"
  • "You Make me Wanna"
  • "Lil L.O.V.E"
  • "My Love"
  • "So Lonely"
Other than that, everything is perfecto! :D--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 03:09, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
Finished :D. Check back please :). Also Max, if your going for two weeks, what will be if there are any issues with Celine's FLC's? Well I can promise you that I will watch them and treat them like MC's when your gone, and if there are any problems found by other editors, I will do my very best to fix it and get it through! :D--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 16:03, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
Complete! :)--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 07:59, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
Hey. So honestly I don't. I can't find them in Billboard, or any other site. If you like I could remove it, they aren't significant. If not the I guess we can just leave them there.--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 08:36, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

Mariah Carey albums discography

Can you give your opinion on this discussion Bluesatellite (talk) 07:59, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

Hey

Hey there Max, welcome back! I see our both our singles FLCs should be passing soon :) I was wondering if you had a source for AIWFCIY being one of the best-selling singles by a non-Asian female? I thought it was in one of my Billboard magazine sources but its not :S. Have you heard MCIIY? Its Amazing!! :D--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 03:45, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

Yes I love it, I honestly didn't expect the vocals to be as good, judging from Memoirs but I'm happy. Yeah, I thought I saw it once but I guess not :/. Nice, these SoundScan figures are interesting! Its cool to see their albums sell well each year, I have a hunch that due to her upcoming Xmas specials and promotion, her old album will also be booming, just a hunch ;). Have you heard about Nelson and Eddy? :)--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 15:39, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
Hey Max. Here are Celine Dion's Canadian Certifications in an official CRIA document. There it is if you want to use it for anything :)--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 16:47, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi Max. Look I don't want to get into an edit war with you, even though I'm tempted :p. The situation was very different then. Her label still claimed 11 million, and I only had a source from The Independent. I have 4 reliable and independent sources now, I will consult Kww, so we can deal with this amicably.--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 21:17, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

Hiya Max, nice to hear from you. So, honestly I disagree. Elvis' album shipped 12 million in the US, we have sales listed at around 9 million, so you see its not exact. As for Carey-Dion, Carey's certifications/sales equal more. 5 (US) + 1-2 (EU) + 2.5 (JAP) + 480k (AUS)(CAN sales). Thats 9-10M in shipped/sales. Dion is 5 (US) + 1-2 (EU) + 1 (CAN) + 400K (JAP). Thats 7.4-8.4 As you see, Carey's has indeed shipped/sold more. Anyways, yes its upsetting because Mariah has done little promo for the album :( I expected a full world promo tour like she did for Memoirs, but she has barely done anything. (Rockafeller & Special). At least it will make it to Gold, and surpass Memoirs I'm pretty sure! Yes that is frustrating! Yes I will ask him that. Do you have a Celine album you'd like some sales on? :) Well the Wikiproject in all honesty doesn't accomplish anything, lol its just a way to keep track of her GA/FA stuff, you know. I already have developed quite a few Carey stuff, look at my page to see which ones! BTW, did you see her sing "Imagine" on Larry King? :) She obviously wasn't giving her all, but it reminded me of the 92-93 Leno performance of it :D--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 20:28, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
Also Max, on a different subject. There is something very inconsistent with Dion's New Zealand certifications. Now, I've never seen the book, but you have and claim Music Box and Daydream are both 5x Platinum and Dion's FIY and LTAL are both 10x and 9x Platinum. Now, here we see Music Box peaked at #2 and spent 77 weeks in the chart, and is #20 on the "all time chart". Now Daydream peaked at #1 and spent only 49 weeks in the chart and is #252 on the all time chart. Big difference, I doubt they could share the same certification level. Now it gets really weird with Dion. FIY peaked at #1 and spent 76 weeks in the chart (1 less than MB) and is #19 on the "all time chart" (1 higher place than Carey. Now it in no way makes sense that her album should have sold double. Its absolutely impossible. Now look at LTAL which like Daydream was less successful. It peaked at #1 as well spending 50 weeks in the chart (1 more than Carey), however charting at #145 on the "all time chart". Now the reason Daydream and LTAL are 100 spaces away is because Dion's spent 8 weeks at number 1, where Carey's spent 1. its understandable. Anyway, there must obviously be some flaw in the information provided in the past. Please comment :)--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 21:55, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
I will, but I'm wondering where you got Celine's info from? Have you ever seen the book?--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 03:42, 19 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi max. How have you been? :) I know you said it wasn't possible, but is there any way you can think of that we can reference those Mariah and Celine Oricon sales in Japan?--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 04:44, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

Japan Year-end

Hi Max. Hope you are doing ok :) Just had a quick question I wanted to run by you. Do you have a link for the year-end charts in Japan for albums and singles? Like official on Oricon? I get the 2010, but I can't navigate to other years :S Its very confusing as Google doesn't translate the entire page. Care to help? :) I hope to find TEOM position in Japan for 2005 :D Thanks!--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 12:20, 27 February 2011 (UTC)

Oh ok :) Thanks for the information Max, I appreciate it! :D Did you watch Celine at the Oscars? She looked so radiant! She finally gained a few needed pounds lol. Celine Dion's voice

Hi, I noticed you've been a longtime contributor to Celine-related articles, and have done so without resorting to breaking any of Wikipedia's rules. You are always fair and accurate, so I thought I'd contact you. I've noticed in recent weeks/months some users have been adding random information to her articles but passing it off as sourced research, thus not being caught. If you'll notice on her main article, her voice section has been quite expanded with plenty of quotes from renowned sopranos (Cecilia Bartoli, Joan Sutherland, the list goes on) commenting with their analysis on Celine's voice. When I first read it I already thought it was absurd to begin with but actually checking the sources I found that my worries were right on....the so-called sources didn't support the comments at all. Check all the quotes in the voice section.. They either lead to a book source which you can read/find in Google books and the quote wasn't in the book at all or the source is the name of some journal or newsletter that we can't possibly verify. It's quite bizarre and I don't even know where to start...Unless I made a mistake and am reading it wrong, but I highly doubt this. Do check this out if you get the chance.Oarhoaleftroom (talk) 09:23, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

Hey

Hi Max. Nice to see you editing again :) So I have a question, maybe you can help. As you've seen, Mimi is headed to FAC soon, so InfoDisc is questionable (to them). Is there another source you know of that we can use to source Mimi certification and/or sales in France? Thanks :D--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 22:11, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the source :) I was aware that Disque queen had certifications, but I for some reason didn't think Mimi appeared there :S Also, I wonder why Mimi isn't certified in Germany? Mariah did receive an award for Gold status there (it was stolen and presented to her at the Bambi awards). Any reason why its not under the certifications?--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 15:32, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

GAs

Hi Max. So I noticed you nominated the Essential album for GAN. Now, I want to help you, and have to be frank, in its current condition, it will definitely not pass. I in the past few months, have written close to 50, so I know the current standards. Unfortunately, all the references are poorly formatted, and the article is not extensive in its coverage. A recent example, The Emancipation of Mimi, which will soon go for FA. You see, it takes a lot of information to produce a GA, so take this advice, because that's all I'm trying to do is help you. If you have questions, or anything, let me know :)--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 09:48, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

Sure, well take a look at Number 1's for example, also a greatest hits, just with loads of information. The main way I get knowledge for 1990-99 Mimi is books, and 2000-now online sources. Look at the google news archives, thats the best place to way. It needs to be significantly expanded. here is a simple search for it. Try to find more background info, reivews, commercial info etc. As for sources, I'm going to properly do five mixed ones, so you have an idea. I did #s 7, 8, 10, 13, 19. Its a simple formula--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 18:06, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
Hey Max. Sure I can help :) Unfortunately, there aren't many reviews, and I have yet to find a good one. I have found other info regarding the artwork which I've added, and can help you with source formatting and grammar. We also need to try and expand the prose. While the article is 66kb, it is short on readable content.--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 01:26, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
You're welcome! I could not :( Aside from the fact that compilations don't get as many reviews, there ins't much information of the album at all. You would be much better off with a studio album, or her more popular compilation, Decade. As of now though, you still need to fix the references, and fluff up the actual text. The lead, commercial and background needs more info. Give more insight on the tour, and the decision to release it. Look at any MC pages and you'll know what I mean.--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 01:22, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
Looks much better Max! :) If you decide to do another, you should definitely try one with more available information!--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 17:17, 23 August 2011 (UTC)
Thanks :) Congratulations on your first GA! Are you planning on going for another?--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 20:08, 24 August 2011 (UTC)
Haha yeah it is! You're lucky you started with something small; the larger articles can be so annoying :S But as you do more, you get faster :)--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 23:27, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

Hey, I noticed that long ago you used Dean Scapolo's The Complete Book of New Zealand Charts as a reference for Celine Dion's Let's Talk About Love album. Invitation to wikiFeed

Hello Max24,

I'm part of a team that is researching ways to help Wikipedia editors find interesting content to contribute to Wikipedia. More specifically, we are investigating whether content from news sources can be used to enhance Wikipedia editing. We have created a tool, called wikiFeed, that allows you to specify Twitter and/or RSS feeds from news sources that are interesting to you. wikiFeed then helps you make connections between those feeds and Wikipedia articles. We believe that using this tool may be a lot of fun, and may help you come up with some ideas on how to contribute to Wikipedia in ways that interest you. Please participate! To do so, complete this survey and follow this link to our website. Once you're there, click the "create an account" link to get started.

For more information about wikiFeed, visit our project page. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask via my talk page, or by email at wikifeedcc@gmail.com. We appreciate your time and hope you enjoy playing with wikiFeed!

Celine Dion

Hello, I've noticed that you are an avid wiki editor especially when it comes to Celine so I thought I might be able to get some advice from you on a certain topic. There's one section that bothers me in particular on her main article. I realize wiki will include opinions from professional critics, such as with the description of Celine's voice. But I find one of those choices incredibly jarring and untrue. In the voice section, there is a quote from a NY Times critic describing Celine's voice as "nearly vibratoless", which is blatantly ridiculous. While this specific critic did indeed say such a thing, I'm sure that most people would find the opposite to be true...Her vibrato is certainly not perfect, but compared to the majority of pop singers she uses vibrato quite heavily (after all, her trademark is belting long notes with vibrato). The problem is this quote has been replicated on practically all of the different language versions of the article and widely disseminated. Would it even be possible to remove it or challenge it, or would I have to supply actual quotes by other critics noting her constant use of vibrato (which I would find quite hard to do)? I know it seems silly, I just think it's ridiculous that despite it being one of her trademarks, it's claimed that she has no vibrato on her main wikipedia article..

A Little Help

Hey Max, after seeing how most your work, have improved the "wiki" pages about Celine Dion, I have a small request. Would you mind taking a look at the page: List of awards received by Celine Dion. In its current stage the page appear incomplete, messy and not op to the standard of the other pages about Celine. So if you could get it a facelift, and perhaps check that the data about her Awards are correct, would I be very grateful :) sign: a fan of Celine

PS. I hope you understand my message. English is a foreign language for me, so it's far from perfect. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.182.136.136 (talk) 15:46, 7 January 2014 (UTC)

Hey

Hey Max. You're good with archive links/sales/charts etc. I was wondering if you could help me out. There is a source from Sony that states Music Box has sold 1 million units in South Korea in 2002. I believe the link is "http://www.universalmusic.co.kr/genre/artist_info.asp?scode=00380" though it's dead/broken. Maybe you can help me locate it? Also, if you happen to come across any Mimi sales or Rainbow/Butterfly/Asian etc sales that'd be cool. Cheers :)--PeterGriffinTalk2Me 21:02, 11 August 2014 (UTC)

@Petergriffin9901: Hi :) This link wasn't archived. I tried to find something else about 1 million in SK but couldn't unfortunately :( I have the same problem with CD. I know that something was written but can't find things now :( I let you know if I find something about Asian sales but you know now I'm spending my time working on CD articles and it's time-consuming :) -- Max24 (talk) 08:25, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
Of course :) Appreciate it mate.--PeterGriffinTalk2Me 07:07, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
