Albert Pyun

Another Albert Pyun promotional item tagged for speedy deletion. The Interrogation of Cheryl Cooper. See talk page. Thanks for you help. Readyforanderson (talk) 15:45, 3 September 2014 (UTC)

If I knew what an AfD was, I would have. Readyforanderson (talk) 04:03, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

No. I mostly do gnome stuff. Or I try to. But I learned a lot looking at your edit history and what not concerning Articles for Deletions. Thanks for your hard work here! Readyforanderson (talk) 21:12, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

Sydney Finkelstein

Hello Roger, Re: Draft:Sydney Finkelstein. Thanks for taking time to review my submission. I would like to clarify that Sydney Finkelstein, the subject of this listing, is the same Sydney Finkelstein who maintains this page and the social media sites linked to this entry. He is a well-known teacher, researcher and speaker. I hope this clarifies the copyright issue. Please let me know if it is possible to edit and publish this page. Thanks. Draft:The Trouble with Barry

Draft:The Trouble with Barry (G12: Unambiguous copyright infringement of http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2400473/combined). Hi there, My article Draft:The Trouble with Barry was deleted for copyright infringement (I think) because I copied and pasted the same plot synopsis I posted on IMDB into the "plot" section of the article. Would it be possible for me to submit a new article on the same subject with an originally drafted plot synopsis that I come up with on the spot, that isn't featured anywhere else? Thank you. Mike Justice (talk) 19:41, 4 September 2014 (UTC)

Tell me this is not a paid editor, or someone with a conflict of interest. (Search Google for Rachleff and Califano, and you'll see the connection is the Damon Runyon Cancer team.) - 2601:B:BB80:E0:F109:7FA8:471:3F5D (talk) 11:00, 5 September 2014 (UTC)

Problem user

Hi RHaworth. I wasn't sure which noticeboard, if any, was appropriate to ask advice on how to deal with the problem user Anshu abinash. He's a newer user whose edit history thus far has been mostly disruptive edits and repeatedly recreating autobiographies, which you yourself have deleted twice. It doesn't appear he has read or understood the policies that have been left in his talk page messages. I'm not convinced there's any malicious intent, but I think there's clear issues of WP:COMPETENCE and/or a serious language barrier. Any thoughts on how to handle this? --Drm310 (talk) 13:21, 5 September 2014 (UTC)

Will you do that? I'm not an admin, and lack the privileges to do so. Cheers! --Drm310 (talk) 14:52, 5 September 2014 (UTC)

Ah, I see you have. Thanks! --Drm310 (talk) 20:39, 5 September 2014 (UTC)

Could you help me understand the intention behind [1]? —Sladen (talk) 15:07, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

Ah, makes (partial) sense; it was deleted, then restored for no obvious reason; that have doesn't show in the diff, only in the log. The reason for G6ing it, is that the move existed for less than three hours before being restored, so there is no legitimate reason it would be linked or reached. —Sladen (talk) 15:10, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

  • No it was not deleted and restored. To be honest, I did not read the deletion tag carefully, I thought it was a request to move the article back to its lower case c state and I decided to stomp on the idea firmly. If you had used {{db-r3}} rather than {{db-g6}}, I might have reacted differently. Try again with an R3 if it really bothers you - I will not interfere. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 17:49, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

GamerGate

I wish to appeal the deletion of GamerGate (or GamerGate_2). The article was well sourced and not an attack article, but rather an initial attempt at encyclopedic coverage of the controversy. The affair has received mainstream media coverage, and it seems rather silly for people looking it up on Wikipedia to find themselves looking at worker ants. The article should have been improved, not deleted out of hand. kencf0618 (talk) 17:21, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

(ec with above?) Hi, can you explain why you deleted this as G10? It didn't read like a purely derogatory article to me, but rather like a more or less factual-sounding account of a controversy involving Internet harassment etc. by others that has been reported on. Not sure whether it's a notable topic, but that's not the issue. Thanks,  Sandstein  17:21, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

The GamerGate subsection of Video game culture (Social implications of video games) is still up. If the subject isn't notable enough for a standalone article, a redirect to that subsection would serve nicely. I'm sorry for what happened to Quinn and Sarkeesian, but it's a culture war in an emerging media realm which has become notable. Lots of magisteria in play here, but we have to rely on the reportage. kencf0618 (talk) 17:35, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

It's not my place to moan at Ramba Ral (not least because this is the first I've heard of him), but the recovery of the article is much appreciated. Thank you. The subject is a big, messy moving target, and we shall do our level best and more. kencf0618 (talk) 18:01, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

I wish to appeal the reversal. I proposed speedy deletion in the first place because this is a hot button issue, filled with controversy and journalistic bias. Tempers are running high on both sides. The article has absolutely no way of being impartial and will be subject to a relentless edit war by people on both sides of the controversy looking to use Wikipedia as their personal propaganda tool. It serves absolutely no other purpose. If you need further evidence of this fact, I implore you to look at the edit logs.Ramba Ral (talk) 18:51, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

It looks good so far. Some flak is to be expected. And our purpose is to be encyclopedic. kencf0618 (talk) 19:17, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

Emerson Gifford Deletion

Hello, I am the author of the Emerson Gifford article and I completely understand the reason you took it down. But this is very important to me that it is up. His birthday is coming up and he really wants a page. How can I make it better so it can stay? He is a great author. And I worked very hard on that. Can I edit my page instead of restarting it? I can't find a way to get to it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by WikiAuthor71 (talkcontribs) 17:57, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

Deletion of Emperor Group

I saw that you have recently deleted this article because someone tagged it as advertisement. While I agree that the style was inadequate, I disagree with the disappearance of the article from Wikipedia. Emperor Group is a major fixture of the Hong Kong business and clearly deserves/ needs an article. At least 4 of its subsidiaries are listed on the HK Stock Exchange and have an article on Wikipedia. The company's founder is a controversial figure and you can have a sense of it by just looking at his article's history. Consequently, the company's article is also the target of heavy POV/ COI editing. As an admin, I could do it myself, but I rather share my thoughts with you: I would suggest to restore the Emperor Group's article as a stub, leaving mainly the lede, the infobox, a list of subsidiaries, and applying a long-term semi-protection to it. What do you think? Olivier (talk) 18:59, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

The Heir Chronicles

Hi, My name is Hunter Martin and I am interested in creating the Heir Chronicles page. I see it has been protected, so I can't publish anything on it. I really enjoyed the book series, and I was always frustrated with the lack of specific details in the old "Heir Trilogy Page." I can only assume that the Heir Chronicles was created to show the addition of the new two books to the series, and was subsequently deleted because it wasn't finished. I have read these books several times, and I feel comfortable with the information. I am comfortable with the Wikipedia formatting system, having worked on thread with other websites before. I hope you to hear from you soon. Sincerely, Hunter Martin Huntermartin417 (talk) 20:28, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

Going on the godawful naked URL provided, I am of the view that the reason provided is unacceptable because it just isn't clear enough - hence the confusion.--Launchballer 22:58, 6 September 2014 (UTC)
I apologise for not making my comment clear enough. The reason for protection in the log is "AfD consensus", which to a new user is nonsense! A better reason would have been "Repeatedly recreated despite a deletion consensus".--Launchballer 12:03, 7 September 2014 (UTC)
  • @Launchballer: Here's a fairly quick copy I came up with. I didn't add a plot synopsis or anything since it looks like it follows a lot of different characters, but I think I've found enough to where we can show notability as a whole for the series. (User:Tokyogirl79/The Heir Chronicles) Does this look good? I don't know if you can approve it RHaworth or if I need to get @MBisanz: to OK it, or to go to DR. I want to make sure this goes through the proper channels since there have been so many attempts to re-create it. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 12:31, 7 September 2014 (UTC)

Deletion of Iván (singer)

Deleted as a cross-namespace redirect that wasn't a cross-namespace redirect - it was a soft-redirect to a mainspace page on a sister wiki project, what soft-redirects were created to do. What is the rational for the deletion? I tried to explain on the talk page, would appreciate an explanation. Geraldo Perez (talk) 19:53, 7 September 2014 (UTC)

Deletion of MITHILAsmita

Namaskar (greetings) RHaworth, should not this page be restored and given some time so that multiple sources, external links other than of organisation are also added over time. I had taken major part from organisation's website hence it might look as a promotion, but there were lot many sources on the web and print. These sources would dilute the perceived 'promotional' tone. Ankurjoshi87 (talk) 01:46, 8 September 2014 (UTC)

Thanks, but please dont jump to conclusion that it is my organisation. Geographical indications [2] (IPR) were provided to Madhubani art and very few organisations are working for that art. Ankurjoshi87 (talk) 18:02, 8 September 2014 (UTC)

Ohh, apologies for not describing about the link. The link to wiki page of Madhubani art and Geographical indications were provided to set the context that my intentions was not to promote the organisation, but to highlight that it was government of India's initiative to preserve traditional art. But very few organisations are coming forward. The name with titles was provided because I thought that organisation was registered in that form and might mean something. Thanks for your inputs will explore posts from other sources too, so that language is not promotional in nature. Few links to page were posted by someone else after I created the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ankurjoshi87 (talkcontribs) 03:08, 9 September 2014 (UTC)

World Mentoring Academy

Hello. You deleted this page as G11 yesterday (a draft that had been declined at AfD five times, only to be created directly in article space and speedied twice there...), but it was recreated within hours by the same editor who previously had created it, in all its various incarnations. The new page seems, to me at least, to be the same as the one that was deleted, but since I can't compare them, maybe you could take a look at it? Thomas.W talk 10:23, 8 September 2014 (UTC)

Contest speedy deletion of User:Heddoko

Greetings RHaworth, We understand that the user page User:Heddoko has been delete, under section G11, for an apparent violation of Wikipedia's policy. In our plans to contribute encyclopedic content related to e-textiles, motion capture, movement precisions, bio-medial engineering, electronic engineering, 3D rendering, and distributed computing, we though it would be pertinent to have a user page that describes and gives a bit of insight as to who the originator of this content is. We are committed to comply with Wikipedia's policies and by no means want to violate any rules. We wish, under your guidance, to have our user page re-instated and we will make all the necessary changes to be in full compliance. Our objective with the user page is to be transparent and open on who we are and what we do, to add to the credibility of our contributions. We thank you in advance for the attention you will bring to our request. Best regards, Heddoko — Preceding unsigned comment added by Heddoko (talkcontribs) 18:30, 8 September 2014 (UTC)

  • I don't usually descend to such language but your page was a load of crap: claiming five different language as your mother tongue; "Heddoko makes no representations or warranties regarding the condition or functionality of this website" - the website is enbaike.710302.xyz - it is ridiculous of you to put such a disclaimer in one page of it. If you genuinely plan to contribute encyclopedic content, get yourself a new account containing no hint of your company name, and start contributing. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 19:28, 8 September 2014 (UTC)

Contest speedy deletion of XmdvTool

Hello, I was wondering if it would be possible to have this deleted article (XmdvTool) restored as a draft? I understand a lot of edits need to be made to the basic information that had been added already, but why deleted so fast? Rather than create a new draft, I figured it might be better to use the old article as a starting point for the draft. Thank you very much for your help. A discussion you may wish to contribute to

You deleted Draft:Percy Allan AM as a copyvio. The author has asked questions about that here, and in an earlier post there. You may wish to contribute. It seems they would like a copy of the wording returned. I suspect, with a copyvio, that is a request unlikely to be fulfilled. — Fiddle Faddle

I have suggested that they may wish to contact you. We will have to see what happens. I am certain it cannot be 'returned' online. Fiddle Faddle 18:38, 9 September 2014 (UTC)

Hi! You deleted this article as G12 at my request, for which I thank you. As the blue link will have told you, it is back in our midst, and – if memory serves – with little or no difference from the deleted version. However, with the previous history gone, I am now hesitant about nominating it again as G12, as it doesn't on the face of it satisfy that criterion. Any advice? • By a spooky co-incidence I was just about to go to the Village Pump to propose the use of {{div col}} for categories when your message arrived. The problem I think lies with the {{div col|4}} tag that I am using to show it 4-up. Opera, Firefox and Chrome are all happy with it. Internet Explorer just shows the list 1-up - but then no proper person uses Internet explorer. But Safari displays the problem you are getting. All these tests running under good old Windows XP. I have put up at a test version at User talk:RHaworth/Archives bug. Feel free to play with it.
Turning to my Asus Transformer Pad TF300T tablet running Android: Opera, Firefox and Chrome are again all happy with it. But the browser that came with the machine, called simply "Browser" shows the problem. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 14:30, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

Contest Deletion of IX Web Hosting

Page created: IXwebhosting.

Extended content
These are the specific reasons, for creating the wikipedia page for IX web hosting.

1. When new customers are looking for web hosting services, they would want to read up about the company before signing up for any plan. Having a Wiki page dedicated to IX would give them in-depth information about the company and the services it offers.

2. Readers do not always want to read up about the company from the company website as the content is all sales-oriented.Wiki will give such readers a neutral description of IX (minus all the sales pitch) so that they can decide for themselves if they want to go ahead with it.

3. All online visitors know about Wikipedia, and hence having a page on Wiki will enable them to easily find information about everything about IX at one place. Hence Wiki becomes the starting point for any research that visitors wish to conduct about IX.

4. IX Web Hosting is a Columbus Ohio, based web hosting company which is into this industry since 1999. Web hosting industry is a big one, and there should be a encyclopedia entry for another hosting company - IX Web Hosting in wikipedia, so that the users are aware of this company and the events happening around this company.

5. By having a page that defines the IX web hosting company, will help users to find very quickly and easily, the relevant information without trawling through a bunch of Google searches. It will also help them, in finding out more relevant information and the events, incidents or outrage happening about the company. As an entry to wiki, the page will explain the information clearly. It will also have relevant sources to cite the information displayed in the wiki page.

Please reply on my talk page. Lionoboes (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 10:58, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

Regarding Speedy deletion nomination of File:Permission to use File ((Maternity by Jose F. Caro.png. I have therefore chosen to present here my reasons to contest such a nomination, I apologize if the present note is undue or missplaced. 2. Concerning the publication of the email in question, I hereby affirm that I was given permission by the email addressee to publish it, perhaps wrongly. 3. The publication in question, perhaps wrongly, aimed at preventing an accidental speedy deletion of this pic, given the fact that at the time of publisizing the email a permission for the image had not been granted yet. 4. Euro-BioImaging

I was just creating my first wikipedia page about Euro-BioImaging scientific infrastructure and one administrator warned me that I should put links and make it sound less promotional. I was just working on it when you deleted it. I didnt even have 3 hours to read very long manuals on what one article should contain, how you put references in, how you put links, and now it all got lost and I was really trying to make it better. What shall I do now? I would really appreciate to have a realistic chance to improve the text on which I worked for 5 hours, particularly when I am learning it for the first time. And you guys that are here regular know much better how things should work, and if you could tell us what needs correcting, rather than just deleting it, it would make us better users of Wikipedia. Now I am super scared to try anything again, because you will think I am some spamming idiot. And I dont even know how to sign here. Incidentally, I hope for your sake that it has no connection with the Seventh Framework - because that is the kiss of death for inclusion here. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 17:04, 11 September 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice, I will consider it. Yesterday I completely edited the text, changed it and added references, and when I clicked Save, the text was already deleted, so I couldn't save the version that I tried to make better for Wikipedia. Euro-BioImaging is like CERN (I guess you know about it) - it is just being built. In the last 4 years it was tested on a smaller scale - if it is needed, if it will help science to produce results faster and solve new questions. Based on that knowledge full international institution, like CERN is, will open to everyone who needs it. It definitely has nothing to do with profit. Will you delete information about this in which ever way I write it (it would be good to know, not to lose my time) or is the style a problem? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tanjan77 (talkcontribs) 08:30, 12 September 2014 (UTC)

Deletion of article The Louwalan Clan

Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to have an article I created restored as a draft. The article, The Louwalan clan, was deleted due to 'Unambiguous copyright infringement of this page'. I did not understand why as the blog mentioned is actually my blog which I had noted in the talk section?

The article covers a popular tale in the folklore of the Kalenjin ethnic group, a category that I have been adding content to and I would like to do so as per the guidelines of the community. Please let me know what I may have missed or what would be required in terms of editing. Thank you very much for your assistance.Eren Gatiat (talk) 09:45, 12 September 2014 (UTC)

  • Go to your blogspot page and add to the bottom of it the same cc-by-sa-4.0 notice as appears at the bottom of every article here. Re-create your article - it needs a bit of tweaking to make the tone more encyclopedic. Place at the top an HTML comment pointing out that it is copied from your blog which has an appropriate licence. Repeat that message in the edit summary and on the talk page. Text emailed. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 10:35, 13 September 2014 (UTC)

Gadicherla V. R. Rao

Hi RHaworth, I started a wikipedia page for Gadicherla V. R. Rao, a rocket scientist who invented the optimum Bell Nozzle (called Rao Nozzle) during the Apollo Moon landing program. Since then every rocket ever flown in the world uses Rao Nozzle and every university that teaches Aerospace engineering (in particular Rocket Propulsion) teaches Rao Nozzle to its students. This include MIT, CalTech, Stanford, Georgia Tech and others.

When Rao passed away in 2005, his obituary was published in a news paper. A friend of mine has sent me the paper cutting. It contained the photo of Dr. Gadicherla and some details about his life including education, employment, and others. When I used the details to create a page, it was deleted because of the copyright concerns. Later I have tracked down the newspaper "Ventura County Star" in California. Spoke with the editor and obtained his consent to use the photo and details in building a wikipedia page. As the copyright owner of the obituary, he granted the permission through an email which I have sent to Wikipedia couple of weeks back. Now I was to recreate the page. Could you please let me know, how to go about it? Best regards, Kautilya1 (talk) 18:34, 12 September 2014 (UTC)

  • RHaworth, you are in error! It is plain to see that G12 was invoked when you deleted the page in question. Further, you may not delete a page for "lack of notability" as a speedy deletion. Such deletion requests should be taken to WP:AFD. Are you aware of this? Kindly have the decency to let us know. Thank you! -- Demiurge1000 (talk) 01:18, 15 September 2014 (UTC)

AFCH script

As you're using the old version of the AFCH script, please take a look at this discussion and the question (poll) raised below it. -- Gryllida (talk) 10:59, 13 September 2014 (UTC)

My sandbox deleted?

Why did you delete my sandbox? All remaining pictures were the ones that were not copyrighted. Thus, there was no reason anymore to delete it. Or was there some other rule I was not aware of? Best regards, Jeff5102 (talk) 11:38, 13 September 2014 (UTC)

O, yes, before I forget: could you please mail me an old version? Since some old versions are deleted, I am not sure if I still got all correct links to all tv-stations. Best regards, Jeff5102 (talk) 07:09, 15 September 2014 (UTC)

Abuja Declaration 1989

I just wanted to find out from your reputable self, why the Abuja Declaration 1989 was deleted? — 41.190.3.96 (talk) 07:58, 14 September 2014 (UTC)

Sophie Ann Hunter

Hi there, I noticed you deleted the articles Sophie Hunter (director) and Sophie Hunter (theatre director). An editor is trying to circumvent the deletions by creating an identical page under another name: Sophie Ann Hunter. Could you take care of this one as well? I'm new to Wikipedia and unsure how to go about it. Thank you! Avianax (talk) 18:34, 14 September 2014 (UTC)

If it does meet A7, which I doubt, slap {{db-a7}} at the top of the article and an administrator will arrive to take care of it. I caution you, however, that the article contains many assertions of notability and thus it would be unlikely to be deleted. Further attempts at deleting the article should be conducted using WP:AFD.--Launchballer 19:03, 14 September 2014 (UTC)

Hello. I noticed that you just deleted a copyvio that I reported, so I thought I'd point you to the editor in question: Ahmedzaibaloch1121 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log). The account was created on 10 August 2014, and has so far received seven warnings for copyright violations, five relating to text and two related to images (the image you just speedied and one that was speedied as F9 yesterday). They have also had multiple other edits reverted as copyvios without being warned for it. In addition to that they have been blocked twice, once for copyvios and once for disruptive editing, which is "impressive" for a user account that is only just over a month old, and has had two "forced vacations". So would you please take a look at it, and put a stop to it? Or should I report it to WP:ANI? Thomas.W talk 09:29, 15 September 2014 (UTC)

Can you review this page? I think its sources does not give information about the person. i guess its sources are fake.--Owais khursheed (talk) 15:17, 15 September 2014 (UTC)

  • Why do you think it fake? Because it references two works published before the kid was born as though they were his? Certainly a suspiciously large collection of refs for someone aged 21 at the time of publication. Also it is probably an autobio. But the real objection to the article is absence of evidence of notability. But why are you asking me? If you think it is fake - do something about it yourself. But I recommend AfD rather than {{db-hoax}}. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 15:44, 15 September 2014 (UTC)

ALGOL68G

I am rather bemused to see the ALGOL 68G article gone. This implementation of the ALGOL language is notable because it is the only one still maintained, and deleting it is doing the computer language historian a disservice. Choosing "advertising" as a criterium for deletion is odd, as this interpreter is free and open sourced. It serves a clear purpose in stating where it deviates from historic implementations, and by stating that this particular implementation is an interpreter rather than a compiler, which historic translators were.

Also, there are a lot of computer language articles, some from large companies, that really *are* blatant advertisements. In my opinion, the deletion of this article is an error, and I would like to see it back. — René Vincent Jansen (talk) 21:41, 15 September 2014 (UTC)

Waste Conversion Pyrolysis

Dear RHawoth, The point is that I have published an article and it was deleted due to plagiarism reasons (Waste Conversion Pyrolysis). We published such articles at some other sources but the authorship belongs to our Company. That's why I got the publication permission [Ticket#2014081410006267]. How can I recover my publication? Thanks in advance! Zhstefanovich (talk) 10:06, 16 September 2014 (UTC) Evgeniya Stefanovich
